Default BornFree 9 Cheetah Engineering's Flathead

This all handbuilt flat track inspired WL named "The Comet" comes to us from Tokyo, Japan where Cheetah is responsible for some beautiful high end customs.
I was first made aware of their work by the superlative Koslow Kraken and this Flathead is in the same vein.
Note the reversible rear wheel with a second brake drum with a smaller sprocket.

What's even cooler is that he took it out on the track earlier that week.

Small rant.
Though it is a flathead, the term was, traditionallly, reserved for BT Flatties. If you said that you rode a Flathead, it was assumed it was a U series Harley Davidson.........period. V series bikes were always called VLs, regardless if they were V, VL, VLH, etc. Indians were Indians, Chiefs or Scouts. We all knew they were flatheads, so no further talk of valve location was necessary. The W series were called Forty Fives or Four Fives. They were never, outside of a few squids, called "Flatheads". A real Flathead owner would tell him, "That's no Flathead, that's a paperweight."
I never paid more than 50 bucks for a Four Five. It's a new world, for sure
Rant over

I fully understand and agree Carl. That said, that thing up there is out of this world badass. Paper weight or whatever.....I freakin love it. Way cooler than an EVO or Twinkie! any of them.

I wish there was a vid of it on the track!

That is one of cleanest looking bikes, the way he did the tank inside the frame loops is just right.

that double drum hub is sooo cool, and such a clever solution for quick ratio changes.

Just what kind of brake and backing plate is that? Straight front down tube vertical generator style? I like the way he (reshaped) ground off the fins on the heads

More so what frame is that?! haha.

I also agree about 45', I don't feel they can be called a flatty, U's are the flatty's that being said, that's a lovely 45.
