And here is the whole deal, minus the license plate bracket...

hey, don't mean to be critical , I love your last bike
the exhaust is so close to oil tank and oil filter -is this a bar hopper or do runs ,cause I'm sure it will cook the oil near the exhaust on a hot day

Haha, No, neither the oil or anything else will not be getting cooked due to pipe replacement. They aren't as close as they appear, and even if they were physically touching the oil tank, there would not be enough heat transfer to do anything to the oil remotely close to what the motor is already doing. Besides all that, I always ceramic-coat my pipes to reduce the amount of radiated heat from the pipes.

iff they were physically touching you obviously don't know what your talking about ,grab a hand full of your ceramic pipe after a 200mile run and a fistful of oil tank temp -compare blistered hand to #uuck that's hot, once oil pasts it's temp it don't have any ability to do what oil is supposed to do and it's cooked

GOOOGLE - OIL TEMP -F#CKED OIL

It's not about whether the pipes can burn your skin, it's about heat transfer, contact area, versus heat dispersion through liquid volume, vessel thermal capacity, ambient air heat loss. Try boiling 3 quarts water, which has a 100*c boiling point, (much lower than oil), with a 330*c heat source through a contact patch half the size of a pencil eraser, into a 15" tall14 gauge steel vessel. It will never happen. Any heat transferred through that tiny contact patch above ambient temp will be lost faster through air's contact with the vessel. Thermodynamics. Better than comparing blister severity.

That was a very rational response. Kudos.

....That's because it's my second draft. The first one wasn't nearly as nice.

+1^^^ the rear header pipe on my shovel is super close to my oil bag and, yes they both get hot ... But not that hot. Also if you weren't having issues with pipes on your Bonnie build being close to the carb float bowls ... I don't see a issue with the oil ...

I'll bet the first draft was a pretty impressive response too...

I always enjoy seeing your new builds Dan.

I know it's about heat transfer, close contact area 2 contact patches
GRAB HOLD AT THE TAIL OF YOUR PIPE SEE HOW HOT' get a oxy and heat the side of your oil tank and tell me it's not affecting your oil
this is what I find -people that haven't done a trade and in having a understanding of REALITY where things I'm talking about are like " it'll be allright " cause your guessing -all of you that it's not #ING YOUR OIL

PUT A HEAT SHIELD IN BETWEEN -DO A OIL TEST after running AND PROVE ME WRONG
I'M JUST TRYING TO SAY DON'T $uck the bike

ever wonder why the vht ex paint you buy is rated at 1500 DEGREES
A BIT MORE THAN YOUR USE BY DATE OF YOUR OIL

The laws of physics will NEVER be trumped by your anecdotal ideas involving blister severity comparisons, exhaust paint ratings, equating temp of the 45th inch of an exhaust pipe to an oxy/acet flame, and ALL CAPS trolling.

Before you make statements like "...people that haven't done a trade and in having a understanding of REALITY..." do your research on whom you are referring to first, otherwise, it just makes you look ignorant.

And just for the record, I already proved you wrong in post #68
