Dan, ever consider building a girder front end? I remember seeing one on Paul Cox "Berseeker" (sp?) years ago and they didnt really appeal to me.....now that I look back and remember him building one the Discovery Channel show....I can appreciate the engineering and workmanship that goes into one....
...and of all people, I have my money on you being able to pull it off....

Yep. Inspiration neck deep. Those tanks are awesome. VERY nice bends in your 'flat' side. I didn't see any light where they met up! Neat trick.

Thanks Steve. That is the way they came from Buchanans. I figure they shaped the holes up so the nipples would seat properly at the given angle.

Wellllllll, I have a turbo that is the right size, but it will not be going on this bike. It will go on one of my personal bikes first, you know..... to get the bugs out
Cheers, Dan.

Haha! I do want to do a girder. But the only one I'd like to use is from Jake Robbins in the UK. His work is the real deal.

Haha! Thanks! It's not a trick, just a lot of time, taking my time. Here are a couple pics of the finished tanks...

Thanks Tom. This came in yesterday from the client with a nice letter from him too. I feel privileged to work for him really. The only problem now is getting visitors to clean their shoes before walking on my new door mat.

Next is pipes. No "Window Blasters" this time, but they will be right side pipes.

I think this must be the hardest way to make exhaust pipes . First up is making a pair of 1-3/4" ID sections custom fit to each of the exhaust spigots. The rest of the tubing is 1-5/8" so the other side of these little bits is turned to fit the smaller tubing. These will eventually be fused to the 1-5/8" pipes, so a tight fit is a must.

Electrics. Here are some, and their brackets. Boring stuff, I know, and destined to be buried forever. Even so, it's nice to know it looks good.

No, just band saw, file, step drill, and media blast. However, I did use a nifty press brake to make the bends just right. Not shown is the custom bottom die I made for small/tight bends on those two peices.

More pipe work. To reduce having to metal finish every joint as a finished pipe, I pre finished the little s-bends before putting them on the main pipes. Anyhow, here is the general shape of the pipes. My goal was to keep the pipes tight with the motor and frame. The left and right pipes are level with the lower frame rails, The right pipe is parallel with the right-side down tube on the x and y axis. and both pipes kick inboard in addition to kinking toward each other, toward the rear. That is why sometimes the "s" sections look different from each other, even though they are identical. Next will be metal finishing, then mounts. Oh, and they are true equal-length too.
