Default and another ironhead build...

so here it goes...

im relatively new here, been working and riding for a couple years, but this is my first harley.

just picked this up last night from an old timer down the street. the story is the last owner (fifteen years ago) had never ridden a bike before, bought it from the original owner, got about 20 yards from his house, lost control, hit a parked bus, totaled the bike and LOST HIS LEG! oof, not a good start.
so now we've got a pile of parts and pieces. 72 motor, paughco frame, and a bunch of parts that don't fit together. main reason for posting this, i'm gonna need some help figuring compatibility with everything.

so thanks in advance for all the questions...

Did you get an MSO/title for the frame?

Regardless I think you must build it around that bitchin' seat.

man... first bike ride... leave the driveway... 20 yards later crash into a parked bus and lose a leg. that's either just plain horrible luck, or proof that natural selection has failed.

that's a whole mess of parts ya got there... the king/queen is rad. good luck with the project, hope ya keep your legs...

Once you're sure all of your paperwork on the frame & motor is clean and clear, mock up the parts you have into a rolling chassis so you can get an idea if what you have adds up to a look that's pleasing to your eye.

I agree with the Dr., that seat is too cool! I see a proper Seventies chopper all raked and flaked...have some fun and keep us up to date.

ah i have a seat for this build that's waaaay better then that one. another old timer in my neighborhood gifted me a brand new brown AEE king queen. that one is def going on this one.

as far as title/mso, i got a title that matches the motor, and i got the front end of the original frame, with the serial number badge on it whic also matches the title. i was considering cutting it off and welding it on the paughco frame. try to make it look like it belongs there... thoughts on that?

That shouldn't be a problem.
Most states only get suspicious if the VIN plate itself has been dicked around with --- they generally don't care about any mods to the frame, which is technically what swapping out the neck would amount to.

Matching frame neck and motor numbers are the golden ticket for titling.

Nice project for sure! If you want to get rid of that seat, PM me. I may be interested in going his and hers on my IH.

Nice project you got going on there!

If you think about parting with this k/q seat, let me know!
And if you ever come west, give me a shot!

Looks cool, my last one came home in boxes and it was a blast putting together. Finished it and traded it for a near mint cb450 and another ironhead basket case!!!

Ruff about the previous owner, looks like a good start. Looks better as a roller. Not sure about the seat.

That is a cool seat...dont get rid of it. I had a bitchin king and queen seat a long time ago that came on a triumph chopper i had and i sold it, i regret it to this day....I hope the seat doesn't carry the bad luck it gave to the other guy though .....
