Default Roy Strawn R.I.P

Organized motorcycle drag racing has lost it's founding father. Roy Strawn was absolutely in my opinion the most important individual ever to the sport so many of us love. He had the right idea at the right time and the passion to follow through when he started organizing all motorcycle drag races on the east coast in the 1960s. He also put together a Top Fuel motorcycle traveling show by booking an eight bike field at tracks to expose the awesome dragsters to the masses which created more interest and larger crowds at his American Motorcycle Drag Racing Association (AMDRA) National events. His annual race at Bowling Green Ky. in the '70s was the "can't miss" race of the year and I attended most of them. The Father's Day weekend races were hot and I hated the military style discipline in the staging lanes but I went back for more the next year.

We didn't see eye to eye on some things important to both of us but I loved him like a brother and I hope he felt the same. There can only be one "most important" and I am very sad he is no longer with us.
