What size is the fitting? what do you guys usually run the hose to? what if i just blocked it off, put a bolt in there?

1/8" NPT. Run the hose to the ground or over the chain. Don't block it off.

If the engine displaces 74 C.I. above the pistons it does so below them too. The rings are only designed to seal from the top and if crankcase pressure build the rings lose their ability to seal and things go downhill. It's hard on seals too.

Also don't obstruct it by running a filter on the end of the hose keep it flowing freely.

its 3/8 pipe and we put a 45 in it and run the hose up and over the oil tank with the oil vent and return lines than back down and tie it off by the rear chain so the vapor lubes it

some one else may do something different but this we have been doing it this way 40 years as it also helps with a sumped motor keeping the oil in it rather then on the floor

Yes....except mine is 1/8 pipe! ^^^That one appears to be also. tho with a caliper 1/8 pipe may measure 3/8" O.D. thread.
I have never had a problem with a short hose directly to the ground over the chain!

i was incorrect it is 1/4 pipe thread not 3 /8 and the return to the block from the primary is 1/8 pipe

the 3 blocks are a 1967 - a -1977 and 1981 and all 3 do not vent with a 1/8 inch all are 1/4 inch pipe but the returns all 3 are 1/8 inch pipe
