Steve Reyes should get his facts straight before setting miscellanous thoughts in motion. Larry never owned a twin engine Triumph, but he did ride Sonny Routt's double while working at Routt's shop all the while campaigning his sportster Jr Fuel.

Some great Steve Reyes shots in that feature.
I think you are being a bit hard on Steve about his 'facts', as he got the rider correct, and he only mentioned 'his' double Triumph, not that Larry owned or built it.

Keith,
On this side of pond, when someone says "his" it denotes ownership not being a pilot.

It has been 5 years since I started this thread. There are now 1443 threads on the Jockey Journal and you have put the VFDB thread in the top 10 of views. Thanks for your interest in Fuel Drag Bikes and as always I encourage you to tell us your stories. I will continue to post interesting information as I receive it.

The ManCup Motorcycle Drag Racing series has moved the Virginia Motorsports Park event in June to Memphis International Raceway and the Indianapolis Raceway Park August event to Rockingham Dragway. I plan on having the "Freight Train" on display at the Rockingham race. If you can make it come by and say hello.

That's great, but, why with all those Jap bikes instead of at the Harley drags??

I would like to come to your event at Rockingham in October but am already committed to the East Coast Drag Times Reunion in Henderson that weekend. The only other events I can make this year are the NHRA Reunion at BG in June and Hershey, also in October.

Nefareous, it's a two speed, second gear out of a three speed and forth...yes the shifting dog has the back side ground so it slips in gear...the shifting dogneeds to be changed every so often...i just pushed forward on the shift lever and when the gears caught up with each other it just went in fourth...had a funny thing happen at Irwindale one night, Big Daddy Don came to the bike pits looking for the bike that had the automatic trans in it...

Whoever took that photo got it right Joe. A crystal clear close-up. I don't think I have seen it before. That had to be in the '50s, right? I have always said you were my hero when I could only dream of racing fuel bikes..
