Default Peening HD Big Twin clutch hub studs

I need to replace a couple of broken clutch hub studs in a big twin clutch hub. Got the old broken ones drilled and pressed out, and I see that V-Twin has replacements. Anybody know a good technique to "peen" the back of the replacement stud securely, once I get it pressed in? Do you heat the stud end at all, or just hit 'em cold?

Thanks. I searched the archive for "peening clutch studs" but missed it.
