These look like good 47EL cases? No belly numbers since the cases are polished. no way of knowing if the case halves match. They look good to me just wanna ask the experts fore i shell out my whole deployment savings plus some.

They look like badly-grenaded re-constructed cases.
The area where the number pad is should NOT be recessed like that, whether that is even the original pad or number is highly doubtable....Also I believe the font should be an open-topped '4', but the experts will be here to correct me soon enough.... Here's you a bunch of samples for comparison - http://vintageamericanmotorcycles.com/v/Numbers/ (and there's no excuse for "polishing away" belly numbers) ![]() Never pay again for live sex! | Hot girls doing naughty stuff for free! | Chat for free! |

Thanks man. I ordered that book about 5-6 weeks ago it hasnt showed up yet though. Sometimes our mail gets sent to the wrong APO's before it finally gets downrange.. We get it eventually though.
What would having it recessed make it look like? or what could they pass it off as?

Back to craigslist! Still need a bunch of parts so I can build my bike between the time i get back and when i deploy again 5-6 months later. Trying to find what I can now, but it aint workin out real well! Was hoping to have time to build it when i get back AND have time to ride it. imagine the novelty in that!

The left case is a late Knuckle case, there has been welding on both sides of the vin pad between the ribs & the pad to add material to the case to accomodate the top end oil drains in the panhead cylinders. The pad itself looks ok to me I can't see the # good enough to say if its good or not. Is that 4 closed at the top?, in 47 it should be open, not sure from what I see. I can't see the rightside case good enough in the pic to say if its a knuck case or not.

Yes, I have seen this done before, compare the pics of the modified case & the one Dragon posted, see how the area from the case rib over toward the VIN pad is thicker? & more conforms to the lines of the Pan cylinder. The built up weld is almost level with the inside edge of the case rib on the first case. you can also see that the built up area has been shaped & sanded.
