Made me some motor mounts that i nickel plated,
On the last picture you should see the difference in color from bare polished metal, and the one whit the nickel plated surface.

Just so fucking boring to grind and wet sanding it.

Nah, if you are going to chrome it I think you will need cyanid, and that could be a problem

Make sure to check their finishing forum.

Nickel once it's suspending in solution is very carcenogenic also. You're looking
at super fund juice in that barrel of yours if you want to get rid of it through
the proper channels. Most home platers just dump it in the backyard, closer to
your neighbors well than your own

Used something similar on some gun parts a while back. Black oxide works great. Best if you bead blast the metal first, shoot it with compressed air to clean it up and drop it straight into the solution. Fingerprints don't show that way. I'm not sure how it would hold up to getting wet on the road...water, salt, etc...but it's great for steel parts.

Haha that's one way to do it.
But we got recycling stations that you can leave it to, The great thing is that it's free and they're bound to take it.

I'm new to this nickelplating thing, but i read that you should not put stainless steel in becouse if you do you may get Cr in your "stew".
But I also read that you could De-chrome whit simple tools in you's garage, but the things that come out of that can't be healthy right?
Or what do you think?
