Default Panhead 1.5 belt drive too tight

Im in the process of putting on my new belt drive on my 1950 Pan, It came with a 132 tooth belt, and with my trans all the way forward the belt won't go on. I might be able to work hard to get it on, but if I did there would be way too much tension on my Crankshaft and trans. main. My buddy has one I'm going to try that he's been running on his bike for a while, I'm hoping his is stretched out enough and it works. Any info on this would be great thanks!

Well I removed the one bolt on the trans plate closest to the Clutch side foot peg, I moved the trans forward covering a portion of the hole, buddies belt was stretched out enough to get on with some slack. Im hoping after final adjustment I can get that bolts back in there.

Might want to think about a one-tooth smaller front pulley or a Bullseye belt, too...

yeah ....I put a belt drive on a 65 with the non adjustable tranny ...I went to the bullseye belt , and had to slide the belt on with the clutch removed off the hub ....then carefully slide the clutch over the hub while aligning the key ...I know there had to be a better way, but I have logged over 6K miles with no problems . where there s a will there s a way !

If the trans still has room between it and the seat post you can mill the slots a little longer in the trans plate. Did that on my 53 pan.

Well I got the belt where I want it, almost fully forward in the slots, only thing now is the hole is just clear of the trans plate, I won't be able to get the bolt back in the plate in order to get the head of the bolt to clear the tranny case, where do you guys get these other belts from?

I just went through the exact same thing, trans all the way forward and up against the seat post, even with the bullseye belt (BDL 30853 BE) it was wayyyy to tight. I had people tell me to notch the seat post and slot the trans plate to slide it forward a little more, but called BDL and they just told me to switch to the smaller tooth basket, 61 tooth instead of 62 tooth...and that's all it took. It was a $200 solution, but better than fucking up shit running a belt too tight, and IMO better than notching the seat post.
