unequal exhaust pressure

Got a question about an 80" shovelhead exhaust pressure at the end of the pipe. The front cylinder seems to have slightly more 20-30% more pressure at idle then the rear cylinder. (Not an actual...

Re: Shovelhead pushrods

Hydro or solid, the rods come out if the are adjusters are turned all the way in and an it off the cam lobe.....hydro will need 30 minutes or so to drain out but no need to open anything else.

Re: Anyone have any cool SWINGARM FL pictures?

Thanks, I've changed out the floorboards for a set of earlier oval HD boards since the photo.

Just small mods. The seatpost was lowered, lower narrow bars, cam, solid lifters, and some repop...

I recently switched from Hyralic to solids on a '79 80" They solids came with 3 distinct length rods; the longest to the #1 exhaust, the next to the #2 exhaust and the 3rd & 4th for the intakes...

Re: new lifters seem to have caused smoking cylinder

Is it possible the blown tappet roller could have been hammering away long enough to cause the damage and has nothing to do with the new lifters and adjustment?

Re: Bent valve...maybe...need some advice

Spent the morning going through the cone. No German bearing, cam is good, seals good, tappets and block are tight, no modifications in the oil passages, flats facing each other (inward) push-rods...

Re: Bent valve...maybe...need some advice

Understood, less then 20 minutes run time on the cam and lifters, everything looks clean, except the shitty lifter.

Testing the lifter, the ball valve fails, sometimes open, some times closed....

Re: Bent valve...maybe...need some advice

It's a '79, 80 inch. I'm new at this.... why would I open the cone again to replace a lifter? Can't I just take the block out and see both roller tappets and lifters?

I had the cone off prior to...

Re: Bent valve...maybe...need some advice

On the bright side..... I guess I got a bad lifter?...

Re: Bent valve...maybe...need some advice

Can't collapse the intake lifter. Been sitting under tension, first time for 30 minutes and now for 6+ hours. I guess it will eventually leak out?
( it's on the heel of the cam)

Re: Bent valve...maybe...need some advice

It's a shovel. I pretty certain that flats on the lifters were facing each other, but I could of messed up. Easier then pulling the heads.... I'll check.

When I listen with a screwdriver to...

Re: So I'm trolling Kijiji last night...

Call American Pickers......there's enough there to start a build!

Like Ratso said, plop it into a fish tank....it deserves to be back home.

Re: Need some help -79 shovel points conversion

The Saga continues. The hydraulic lifters on the rear cylinder were locked up solid . This explains the blue pipe on the rear cylinder. And what seemed to be the ignition breaking down when it got...

Re: Need some help -79 shovel points conversion
