Re: 58-62 vs 63-66 Rear Brake

[QUOTE=M.O.Ther;1621841]The '63 and later drums use wider shoes, as well as the backing plate design keeps the water out a little better.

There are three basic setups.

'58-'62 with it's own...

Re: 1966 flh

Man you've done a class job!
Goes to show the best looking bikes (to me at least) are bikes built with mostly old Harley parts, without too much fancy stuff to detract from the clean lines - like...

Re: Harley Steering Head Bearing Cups and Races

You'll find that there is a small shoulder that the race is sitting against. It might look like it's not all the way home, but it MUST sit firm against it.
Most likely the 2 photos are variations...

The front mounts on VL's are @ 3.50" centres.
Front mounts on UL's, EL,s etc are @ 3.25" centres.

Rear mounts on all are @ 3.50" centres.

The front RH hole in VL...

Re: btsv vs 45 spotters guide.

A few years back, just for the hell of it, I made up a chart so I could get my head around the VL / UL top end parts differences and identify parts quickly on the spot (and not mistake 45 parts for...

Re: btsv vs 45 spotters guide.

The few parts common to both 45's and BTSV have been almost covered above.
I thought you may have been referring to things like cases, heads, pistons, flywheels, cam covers - major parts that are...

Re: mondo chopper /janis joplin

Would be cool to see a class for parts like this at bike shows - even without the motor, so everyone can get a look at chopper history.
This would be a winner just sitting on a turntable.

Re: Wanted: Christchurch NZ JJers :)

2 wheeled projects at my place - BT flatties, Knucks, Pans and Shovels, and my 15 year old son is building a rigid '67 Sporty with a RL springer.

Great story - still laughing!
Did you take any photos of the bush and bike all together back then?

Cool bike. Great job!

Re: Bumble Bee

Hey Hach, what is that neck forging - looks unusual even for a repro frame - no key lock but with a number boss?

You are not alone - too busy for my liking.

Otherwise, I love the paint and the way this bike could be shaping up.

I presume you have checked rocker / rocker box clearances. The first ones made...

Re: Panhead speedo drive worm gear needed!

Try Pedro around the corner at Harley City - not likely to have one in stock but he'll know exactly what you're after - or Colt might have one as he works on 4 speeds often. Steve.

Re: Shaved Legs

I usually only do a minimal amount of shaving at top of the legs around the seal, just leaving a little bit - calling it a Brazilian! (Sorry!)

Re: '62 Chop, 4th Rebuild in 42 years.....

My buddy has one of these disc adaptors on his 73 shovel. I think the drum bolt pattern on the mid star hub is probably the same bolt pattern as star hub drums. If so, this would work for you....

Re: 39mm lowers - axle nut question

Seems a little odd that someone would supply an axle for a 39mm slider with a 5/8" thread.
Stock on those was 1/2".
Simply means the larger ID washer to fit the oversize thread has a larger OD. -...

Re: 64-72 sporty/super glide drum in a springer?

If my memory serves me correctly, there is one on a Sporty (with HD springer) in Easyriders 10 Best Bikes from the late 70's (early 80's?) - think it was on the cover....and would of been featured in...
