Re: Lets get the record straight, LOWBROW.
I worked at a dealership from early 73 to 78. My boss had worked for private shops and dealers in the Minneapolis area for years, and knew a few people at the factory. His biggest complaints about...

Re: 18” rear wheel
The 8" spokes are for the late 60s and up XL rear drop center rims . I just laced one, the spokes were 8" long. They will fit the same for a star hub., so the 8 1/4" would be for the 30's up...

Re: Anyway to I.D. Shovelhead fender struts?
a little late I suppose, but the total length on the dresser support is 22 1/4" and on the FX 20 1/2". Out side of different holes for signals , and sissy bars, I think the basic FL struts are the...

Re: Anyway to I.D. Shovelhead fender struts?
Harley did away with the hinged rear fender in the late 70's I think. The dimensions remained the same. I have some old FX fenders around, I will measure one and get you the width. I'll see if I can...

Re: Anyway to I.D. Shovelhead fender struts?
FX fenders are narrower than FL, and do not have a hinged section to secure. FX struts are shorter, and angle in closer together. Over the years there are other subtle differences, but dimensions...

Re: 41 el
You probably already know this, but you need solid metal core wires with a magneto. The old industry standard was Packard 440 wire for mags, pre suppression, and pre electronic ignition wire. Some...

Find a pre electric start(66H first year) swing arm, or a pre 70 CH swing arm,(same thing). Bolts right in and with all the rigid conversions since the late 60's, there should be plenty out there. In...
