Thanks everyone. This board has already proven to be amazing and I appreciate the help & viewpoints. I think I will go with the 1" and just mill it down to 7/8 at the bottom yoke

Ducbsa- that was my first thought too- any thoughts as to which (7/8 or 1") would be superior ? Or you thinkin its a 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other scenario. I'll be running a Neck bearing...
