Re: Pic thread...<<japan scene motor bikes>>>

Look at that bike and then look at the one I posted with the Cragar wheels. The frame mods look almost the same, as does the flavor of the seat and the handlebars. Same builder???

Re: Building a Shovel For Myself

I think swingarm frame chops look more interesting than rigids myself. Rigids are like asian chicks to me - they're attractive enough, but aside from a few bits here and there, they pretty much all...

Re: Stolen Indian Chiefs, could use some help!

Hate to say it, but you or the guys who look after the place know who stole the stuff. You may not know you know, but you know. The timing cries inside job.

Re: Brazing 101

Lots of folks (many of whom have already chipped in on this thread...) think that brazing means brass and only brass.

However, there's this amazing resource called the internet that with a few...

Re: Buying parts, run the numbers?

With HD you can call the factory. They have a *surprising* amount of info on their bikes numbers. For example, I have a 70's shovel with title that I called on just for kicks. Found out that it...

Re: Cowpie trans and horseshoe oil tank in a dropseat frame

Found a Paughco 748E which supposedly fits a dropseat frame with 79+ trans.

Re: Cowpie trans and horseshoe oil tank in a dropseat frame

It would be your standard 36-64 horseshoe. Going kick-only open-belt so no inner or outer primary to speak of, just an outer bearing support.

I'll get a pic over the weekend sometime.

Cowpie trans and horseshoe oil tank in a dropseat frame

Is it possible without mods to the tank? I'm finding it very hard to get anywhere near the space needed to fit the tank over the cowpie with it's plate shifter top in there.

Re: Brazing before TIG?

Right on. So braze welding might be OK for tube-in-casting type joints, but a surface mount like a kickstand lug or seat hinge bung might not be the place for it.

Thanks for the detailed...

Brazing before TIG?

I'm considering brazing on a weld-on kickstand bung and seat hinge bung during mock-up, then having someone with a TIG rig making a pass with steel filler. Is this an epiphany or a not-so-hot idea?...
