Re: Mystery flywheels in my Shovel

I'd say 3 1/2" bore since the stroke is already 4 1/2". Nothing seriously huge or crazy just an 80"-ish. Compression... Since she's gonna be a kicker, 9.0-9.5 would be ideal.

Re: Rigid Evo Build

Looks like a solid start. Though if you are any good at welding, I'd have gotten a complete sportster and added a weld on rigid tail. (I am doing one now) Evo sporties are good motors. If you have to...

Re: Mystery flywheels in my Shovel

Yeah Larry. I'm gonna call the shop again today and see what exact measurements they need and if I can't get around it, I'll call Wiseco or Keith Black and give them my measurements.

Re: Mystery flywheels in my Shovel

I can't identify if it is actually an S&S flywheel. Also my local shop is having a hard time figuring out what Pistons to sell because they don't want to be liable if the skirts slap the flywheel or...

Re: Mystery flywheels in my Shovel

Damn... I am gonna have to break down and take this damn thing in and get them to tell me what it is... Or break down and measure it out... And split the cases to see what the flywheel is....

Re: Mystery flywheels in my Shovel

Well I am trying to figure out what Pistons to buy. PO says it's a part of a 89" Hot Rod setup from S&S, with a 4 1/2" stroke, the kicker so the cylinders are .20" over an 80". Now that's all fine...

Re: Mystery flywheels in my Shovel

Yeah I think I'm gonna pull everything from the cases and sell the components. I have a Stroker Shovel I can put in the rolling chassis and run in the mean time.

Re: Primary components recommendations

Yeah I was checking out BDL's set up and think I might go that direction. I just don't want to throw $500 on a clutch if I can avoid it.

I'm in Arizona and our build time (if you can handle the...

Re: Primary components recommendations

Thanks Jaws. I'll look into it. I have the original primary clutch and chain, but I'm not a fan. I'd rather run open primary especially while I'm shaking out the bugs.

Primary components recommendations

Have a 77 motor with a cow pie transmission and I'm piecing together the primary.

I would like to run belt/dry because I eventually want to run tin covers, but I think the mean time will run...
