Re: Harley big twins? WTF is a "little twin'? (novel)

Separate oil tank looks nicer, too. IN MY OPINION. Ahem.

Re: Norton Model 99

Whatever "these" are, I can't see 'em. I shall file a grievance.

Re: Norton Model 99

The rear tire looks like a TT100 (I can't remember what the front Dunlop looks like).

Goldy do you ride your old bikes pretty hard? I wouldn't mind knowing about a cheapish tire that is also...

Re: Ugly and Funny Bikes... the "Short Bus" of pic threads..

That's not bad taste, that's psychopathy on parade.

Re: Ugly and Funny Bikes... the "Short Bus" of pic threads..

Going to the Taste Police is just asking for trouble. At least, if you have tastes like mine.

Is that pitiable Norton suspended in back, a la Softail? Looks like a rigid, but then there's the big...

Re: Ugly and Funny Bikes... the "Short Bus" of pic threads..

Not *that* ugly. And not *that* funny. Sue me.

All day I resisted the urge to swipe this image from vft.org. I hope I get some credit for that.

Re: Harley big twins? WTF is a "little twin'? (novel)

I misunderstood your first post -- thought you were still weighing which bike to build. Your 45-so-far looks real good. The less you surround it with, the more prominent, i.e., better focused, the...

Re: i'm looking for pics of custom bikes from the 50's

Dang!

That first pic: What is going on with the heads and rocker covers? Almost looks like water jackets on the heads. (Yeah, as a matter of fact I AM half-blind; what's it to you?) Or is it just...

Re: "Identify this bike" thread no. 3,287

By golly I think you've nailed it! Pics of the RH side were easily found (since you'd provided a marque to search for), and yep, the bike in post #1 is a match for the c. 1937 Rudge Ulster -- a Manx...

"Identify this bike" thread no. 3,287

Would have added this mystery bike to an existing "please I.D." thread but, to my surprise, couldn't find any general-interest I.D. topics -- each one was concerned with a specific motorcycle.

Re: 33and 36 crankcase numbers

In the pic of Richbob's suspect '36, the B or 8 looks to my ignorant eye like an H that has been clumsily messed around with.

Re: Harley big twins? WTF is a "little twin'? (novel)

Oh man. I know how stupid "Sorry you lost nearly all of your possessions" must sound, but I'll say it anyway.

Thing about (say) a Nortoon vs. a 45" is, owning the former will make it easier to...

Re: i'm looking for pics of custom bikes from the 50's

Thank you for those particularly good ones.

The Road Regents bikes look a cut or several cuts above average. Do you know anything repeatable about that club, e.g., whether they were known in their...

Re: NZ Shovelhead build

Sure 'nough. It's looking fine, and yeah, what I can see of the fender suggests that it's excellent in all directions.

Z bars z bars z bars z bars. Please. You know it's the right thing to do.

Re: Post your 45'' pics, please!

That's a fine-looking bike, F. Freak, especially with the peanut tank. (Just my two cents, and only because the small tank plays up the engine as the bike's focal point. To me, when there's a lot...

Re: show me your flat trackers and desert racers

Now this is *tasteful.* Those side panels are diamond-tuft top-grain cowhide!

Note the similarly refined leather foreski::AHEM::shroud up by the steering head.

Re: show me your flat trackers and desert racers

Gosh that's nice. Give it an extended hardtail, some 8" over fork tubes, and it would be quite presentable. (Sorry, I was just looking at an old thread in which someone ruined a beautiful, badassed...

Re: show me your flat trackers and desert racers

Oh, duh. Front brake, reversed shifter: not a flat track or TT bike? Not a dirt tracker at all?

Re: show me your flat trackers and desert racers

This is Jimmy Philips, and I gather that today was his birthday.

The hind pipe looks unfamiliar to me, not that I'm hardly conversant. I suppose they used pipe length to tune for track length...

Re: Slaughterhouse Sally 63 Pan

I'm glad you got Roy and Harold involved!

"BMO Velva Lifters" sound like something they'd sell at a waxing parlor.

Re: Indians

I knew a succession of Wall of Death guys when I traveled with the carnival. There was a fairly brisk turnover rate, prob'ly due to the near-vertical learning curve, so to speak. Lot of broken...
