Re: Triumph steering stop RH or LH ?????

I assume you are missing both stops or you would know which way they go in. They screw in from the bottom and are a RH thread. Is yours missing the top and bottom? They usually snap off the top thin...

Re: Triumph Picture Thread

Still in progress, but here is my inherited 1970 Triumph Tiger 650. I'm trying to restore it to near original with the exception of the mag wheels and disc brakes and all the chrome being coated in...

Re: Triumph 650 Tiger Restoration

Finally got the sludge trap plug out. This was an SOB to get out. It took 10 minutes with the BFH and the impact to turn it 360. Another 5 or so to get the next 360 and then I put the 1/2" air...

Re: Triumph 650 Tiger Restoration

I do powder coating for a living, so yes I remember what color it is. It is called Original Sun Gold with a clear coat on top. I use it a lot by itself or as a metallic base for Candy Red.

Re: Triumph 650 Tiger Restoration

Kimtab rotors turned out to be warped so I scored a deal on a pair of chrome Ducati 320mm rotors for $60 to replace them....

Re: powder coating

Wow, so much misinformation I don't know where to start. I will start by saying I am a professional powder coater and have done extensive research in metallurgy to understand what I do so I don't...

Re: Triumph 650 Tiger Restoration

Hadn't planned on a full restoration right up front, but with water in the motor and the bike at this stage I guess it's a piece of cake to go ahead and tear it all the way down.

Re: Triumph 650 Tiger Restoration

Pulled the motor out of the frame and turned it on it's side to break the drain plug loose. Clear water poured out of the block when I turned it over. Nice thick cream colored pudding proceeded to...

Thanks Goldy, the stock wheels and brakes I'm taking off will be restored and set aside so any possible owner after I die can put it back stock if they so choose.

Re: Inherited New Bikes

Govmule, My intention was not to promote the sale of the Norton ( I'll call it that so the Japanese 2 stroke stuff doesn't offend you). It just happens to be part of the story of the bikes I...

Re: Inherited New Bikes

Hoof, I'm not a big Norton fan, never was. I see this bike for the awesomeness that it is in it's uniqueness. I have 2 intentions with this bike, ride to see what it's like and then to sell it for as...

Re: Inherited New Bikes

Business has been slow and I could use the cash, otherwise there's no way I would let it go before I tame the beast. I suspect that the guy who offered me $4K-$5K as is will be disappointed if he...

Re: Inherited New Bikes

I have taken a lot of flack on the Norton boards for sacrilegiously building such an abomination wit a valued Featherbed frame. The reality is that this build was done in 1980, when featherbed frames...

Re: difference between 1970 650, tiger and trophy

I know this is an old thread, but I'll add, The TR6c had high side pipes on the left and chrome fenders, The Tiger had low pipes both sides and paint matched fenders.
