Hey Blewcrab, I have a Kick only shovelhead in a swingarm frame & suffer bad from arthritis & joint disease so cannot kick anymore, I didnt wanna change all my primary 3'' belt etc for stock covers...

I still say check the cam timing & magneto drive gear, it could have moved on the drive shaft if the pin is fucked,..isn't hard or a long job, ya not doing anything during lockdown so why not ??. or...

Here in England for some reason it is hard to find rubber plugs which is I am guessing why Rhys used cork, about the only rubber ones are for sinks & baths and the available sizes are quite limited,...

the Cam timing could be out one tooth, i have come across that before & the symptoms can be as you are experiencing,... worth a check, easy job as well,... probably thrown together to sell, happens...

I use these ''DURITE'' end fittings on the Magneto end of the leads, they are available in 8mm. depending on what the cap takes, as i said early caps took 7mm & later ones were for up to 8mm...

you can get copper core plug lead wire at any Motorcycle accessory or car parts store in England near enough, & it's cheap as chips as we say, it isn't hard to find, certainly no reason to spend shit...
