Re: Custom controls

In Jersey I would go to 47 Industries. Mike there can build you anything.

Re: '63 Swingarm Pan frame question..

Amazing as most of the parts Wasco sells are from V-twin. He even uses parts of the V-twin number as his own order number :)

Re: 1951 Panhead build thread

In engineering school back in the fatherland they showed us gruesome pics of long hair caught in the drill press etc. One showed a poor guy whose lathe had the on/off switch down low on the left and...

Re: VL fork question posted for flatman. "calling on Von Wegener "

He is correct on the part numbers. L44610 is the race that fits the Harley neck cup. It is standard on all big twins since 1949. The L44459 would fit the VL 1-1/8" stem and matches the race in...

Re: Midstar rear brake question/identification

Assuming you have the '63-'72 backing plate with the big lip around it have you backed off the adjusters? If they are all the way out and your new drum is unused that could be the problem right there.

Re: Hallcraft mini disc hub bearing replacement

I'm happy for you. These tiny Hallcraft hubs are so neat. All designed in the interest of looking show bike cool.

Re: Trying to find info on an old blog and this motorshop frame bike

I'm always amazed how a few modifications change the look of a bike. The original bike looks perfect whereas the newer version is just soso and does not display the cool features of the original....

Re: Hallcraft mini disc hub bearing replacement

Yes that cover on the non disc side is crimped on. In fact I had never seen one until your picture. I guess they cannot be removed without harming them hence the missing cover on used swapmeet parts....

Re: Got my first beezer... 1954!

Very nice Flynn. Like Ratso said ss Frisco on the tank and I would go even further by suggesting swapping the Sportster tank for a Wassell type peanut. The rest is perfect.

Re: Ugly and Funny Bikes... the "Short Bus" of pic threads..

That "Gold Star" is mighty fine. Restorers are so lame. Just because it is rare and expensive they love it and call modifying one a sacriledge. If another BSA was rare they would love that. I can buy...

Re: Identify Vintage Harley hardtail frame

I agree with Zeeman. Since the early frames have such a steep neck angle it was common to rake them or just cut them apart for hardtails.

This appears to be a later neck as it has the FX front...

Re: The old Black Chrome, Who still does it ?

Flanders offered their handlebars in black chrome. I asked who did it for them but the shop claimed the California EPA regulations made it impossible to do that anymore.

Re: 1951 Panhead build thread

I think because of Easy Rider the 16" tire became suddenly so popular. From Hondas to Triumphs to any 70s chopper the 16" was the must have. Maybe also because the parts houses like Aee were pushing...

Re: 69 Triumph Bonneville Chopper ?

That is a pretty trippy spring/girder. Much more sophisticated than the paint job. Would be interesting to find out more.

Re: Unity headlight - Model number?

Rhys the Unity company builds Spot lights for emergency vehicles and is still in business. The light units are all the same but in two styles and the brackets and handgrips are unique to each...

Re: 70 Shovel Gentle Ben Relived

It's raked. I liked that. Early top tree with the wide riser spacing is a nice touch often overlooked. I dig the Midget too.

Re: Bit of an off the wall topic.

I would like to see the sissy near straight up and the fender shortenend accordinglingly.
Plus personally I would do more period handlebars like Hellings or MCM Mini apes.
But that's just me.

Re: H-D additional original component identifying numbers

Eric the wealth of your knowledge amazes me. Between the hallmarks, the revisions and theft numbers I am truly glad I am not a restorer and have to look for the correct part for a resto. It also...

Re: Confused about brake drums

John at Hardtail Choppers makes the neatest little brake tab. V-Twin offers a piece of plate with the elongated hole needed but it is just a plate that you could make at home with a hacksaw, file and...
