I had to buy a new case half, so they were decked when mated. But why would the front cylinder pushrods fit and not the rear?

Same lifter bodies and cam, but i did have a new valve job.
If i take off the lock nut on the adjuster, there is enough room to slide it in and adjust, just cant lock it in.

The rods are in the correct places. the longer (exhaust) and shorter (intake) on the rear cylinder are both the same length to long. I think i am going nuts!

I had marked them all when I disassembled so they went back in the same place. I also measured once I started having issues, and they are in the correct places.

I am not doing the welding, just the build itself. There is a hole in the old repair, otherwise I would have left it. Thank you for the tips... I am trying to learn as much as possible.

Splitting Cases Question

I have a 53 pan that I need to split the cases to have an old repair fixed on the left case. I haven't split cases before; is there any things I should look out for? Any helpful hints?
