Re: Spacing a front pulley (belt drive)

I'm not a real big fan of BDL belt drives to begin with, but I'll use one if the client insists on it because of price. But, I've installed them, and BDL has offset pulley inserts, with the...

Re: Spacing a front pulley (belt drive)

I'm going to guess your front pulley has a "zero" offset pulley insert, in other words, the pulley insert is flush with the back of the pulley.

Your alternator rotor, is it still the OEM '78 one...

Re: Fxr 1990 1340 evo 5 speed Primary Belt

Well, Rivera-Primo is tits-up, has been for about a year.

RockinRonnie, you are right, the FXR belts are shorter. In anybody's brand of available primary belt drive, you're looking at the years...

Re: 1987 Dyna Rear Tire Rubbing. Offset axle? Spacers?

Well, they're weren't any 1987 Dyna Lowriders. The 1st Dyna was released in 1990 as a Sturgis model for Sturgis' 50th Anniversary, but tagged as a 1991 model. So, what is it that you actually have?

Re: Stainless exhaust builders kit and/or panhead flanges?

Most of the exhaust tubing you'll find is going to be 304 stainless. You could easily weld say the Biltwell mild steel Pan flanges to the 304 tubing using 308 or 310 stainless filler rod, which is...

Re: Please Help - Boring out a Hub / Register hole on a rotor

What you effectively have is a FXWG hub, so it "should" clear with a PM caliper and bracket, but I can't say positively, because I've not put together your combo all on one bike.

Re: Please Help - Boring out a Hub / Register hole on a rotor

OK, the Evo era, and for that matter every rotor/hub from '86-'99 regardless of model, has a 2" center hub/rotor hole diameter. The '00-up rotors have the rotor/hub hole diameter of 2.25". if your...

Re: 1958 Pan

It should say Hydra Glide on top, with 3 diagonal ribs stamped in the panel on each side of the headlamp.

Re: Triple tree stem

The extra length in your stem is most likely to allow the use of a hidden fork stop plate, which you probably didn't get with your trees from Ebay. The hidden fork stop plate, which acts as your...

Re: Sputhe 5 speed woes

The Sputhe 5 in a 4 uses '80-early '84 5 speed components. You've got the right mainshaft for your clutch assembly from the photos. It looks to have the H-D 35042-79 mainshaft, again from your...

Re: shovel/evo bottom mount holes

An Evo bolted into a 4 speed frame will line up with any 4 speed transmission - ratchet top or cowpie from '70-'85, as long as the transmission has the chain drive mainshaft from those years. And,...

Re: I need scans of a couple H-D parts book pages....

Like my original post says, the part number page, and the exploded diagram page for the Harley adjustable triple trees pn 45703-50, from '51-'59. The '50 trees have slightly different hardware.

I need scans of a couple H-D parts book pages....

I'm needing a couple pages scanned from a H-D parts book. I need the part numbers page, and the exploded diagram page for the H-D adjustable sidecar trees. They don't have to be huge scans, just a...

Re: sportster Ball toTimken bearing coversion stem length

That Vtwin kit looks nothing like the Paughco kit does. Paughco's bearing conversion cups are approximately the same height as the big twin cups are.

Paughco also doesn't give you two different ID...

Just use the Shovel manifold you have, and get the press-on flange adapter from Killer Motorcycle Products. Similar to the adapter Craig's Customs (now A&A, but I couldn't find a listing for them)...

Re: chop the evo but keep the final drive?

Actually, Gates Polychain (and BDL/Panther) makes a pretty large selection of belt tooth counts in both 1 1/2" (Big Twin) and 1 1/8" (Sporty). 9 tooth count belts to be exact - 125, 126, 128, 130,...

Re: Can anyone identify these hard bags?

Those are Softail Deuce, 2000-2007. They were available for the Deuce in mid '00. They were pretty pricey when they were new in '00, about $735.00 a pair in primer, and another $100.00 in "paint to...

Re: bdl clutch hub question

BDL doesn't instruct you to put red Loctite on the tapered mainshafts, just the 5 speed splined shafts. Not to say someone didn't, but I doubt it. They may however have put red on the woodruff key...

Re: rear sprocket for 75 ironhead with 2000 sporter spoke wheel?

You can determine exactly which rear sprocket you need yourself.

Center your wheel (with tire) on the backbone, then clamp a long straightedge to the outside of your trans sprocket. Measure from...

Re: Speaking of springer disc brake setups....

You can use a wide glide wheel, you'll just have to check the brake stay clearance on the inside of the springer legs for interference. You may have to go to a rod with female heim joints vs. the bar...

Speaking of springer disc brake setups....

Buckman50 had mentioned in hammerweight's drum brake thread about using a Per. Machine brake if he chose to go to a disc on his bike, so I thought I'd put this up here.

There are a lot of springer...
