Re: FXSTS Springer Wheels Questions

That's probably true. One mine, an 88 to 92 springer - you can tell by the "ears" on the end of the fender mounting studs on the front legs, these mounts are not the same length coming off the front...

FXSTS Springer Wheels Questions

Hello folks, It's been a while since I've been here but I know someone here knows way more about the later model (1988 and up) Harley springers than I do.

Here's what I'm trying to do. I've got...

Re: revised Indian design?

Those old 841 engines get taken apart for their cylinders. They are ideally suited for building a Hot Rod Sport or Big Base Scout. And the flywheels in them are the same dimensions as the Big Base...

Re: Big Twin rigid frame question.

Landshark had a 6 page spread in Easyriders about his Indians back in the 80's he's a pretty well known guy in the vintage bike circles. He has nothing but Indians and the occasional Guzzi.

Re: Super X OHV racer

Being there's no oil supply them and they're exposed, you might consider roller rockers?
Looking good Mads!

Re: Another Big Twin Chief Project

You can use a chevy sprint alternator and make (or buy) a bracket for cheap.
It's a pretty common deal to do. I did it on my chief. It's the same alternator as a Geo Metro or Suzuki Samuri. You get...

Re: 1949 indian scout

Indian never went bankrupt. But those bikes did have a lot to do with Indian going out of the motocycle manufacturing business. Indian invested millions into them, But what really sank Indian was the...

Re: from the land of stupid questions

You can hook up the trickle charger with the battery still in the bike. I'd just let it sit. A few more months won't hurt it. I've got about 11 or 12 bikes that I register every year and am lucky to...

Re: Foot Clutch Opinions

Rocker clutch is more controllable. And you can alter them to work either way: heel down to clutch like HD, or toe down to clutch like Indian (you can adjust Indian rocker clutches either way too). I...

Re: Super X OHV racer

I doubt you'll need to degass. If you do however, there's two ways: chemically with a Chloride salt such as sodium chloride or aluminum chloride, or mechanically with nitorgen gas. As the earlier guy...

Re: Super X OHV racer

Ok, that's pretty fine sand so venting could be part of the problem. Just by looking at that photo of one of the ports where the sand isn't falling off, I can tell you're using a lot of binder which...

Re: Super X OHV racer

Looking good Mads. Personally, I'd choke the pour as much as possible instead of dribbling it in like you're doing. If your concerned about trapping air you may want to scratch vent the mold before...

OK sorry,
I must have missed the part about him him not wanting a starter switch or relay. He really didn't specify where he was going to mount the switch so I just gave him something that will work...

Re: shovel clutch shutter, hard to find neutral "fixes"

No, those clutches are about the simplest and most trouble free clutches around. Wait until you open up an old Indian and try to get the clutch working smoothly on those....

I think a clue to...

Re: Super X OHV racer

Nice looking mold Mads. Remember, don't dribble that aluminum into it, Fill that mold as fast as possible. Depending on where the sprue and riser are, you may want to tilt the mold 5 or 10 degrees...
