Threaded. I'm looking at the frame diagram for a '68 and they are shown as a threaded stud. I've never seen one missing from a stipped frame, so they must be a bitch to get out.

If you haven't taken the front wheel off, then do so....it'll make it easier to get things out. Also, you could whack the fork tubes out now too....again, take the front wheel off. Looks like...

There are a few hard tails out there for A65. Look up the David Bird....I haven't used one, but by the looks of it, they are a really good fit. Another is available through British Cycle...

It's called a quadrant, and the part number for 1968 is 68-3294. I'm not sure if the part is the same for the other A65 years.
