Re: Bicycle brakes on choppers

Literally, "for the life of me," I cannot understand why someone would want to ride without a front brake. Yes, I understand the "looks" thing, but I have a lot-more respect for the "I want to-live"...

Re: show me your flat trackers and desert racers

Here's an interesting story about the Swedish manufacturer Monark. They built a 500 cc World Champion motocross bike, a 4-stroke single, the rider was Sten Lundin. When the race team manager died,...

Re: 1955 AJS project

The Matchless Monarch is a great-looking bike. It's what bikes looked-like when I was a kid, growing-up.

There was also a Swedish bike co., called Monark. They built some very-rugged enduro-style...

Re: 1966 Bsa 650 on a budget

One hundred years-ago, BSA was the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles (1920's).

Any particular reason you didn't machine-off the boxes for the rectangular reflectors? If you mentioned...

Re: Slabside shovel VIN help

I think many would be interested in what you received, to see what was done to alter it.

Re: show me your flat trackers and desert racers

Taken at Daytona Beach Bike Week 2011 during the bike auction, held then on the mainland, at the Armory. This bike was during the age of the board trackers. Dunno why the pics flip, they aren't that...

Re: A quality Bates-type headlight

I've used EMGO lights on bikes. I like the 7" light, in a flat-black finish, and a chrome bezel.

Have you considered going to 'ears' on the downtubes, instead of the single-mount machine screw at...

Re: Forks

FYI, in Florida slugs in forks are outlawed.

I've bought Forking by Frank tubes and they were fine, OEM-style replacement, and less-expensive. You can order them 'over,' should you desire.

Re: Cheap tires?

No. Friends don't let friends ride on Cheng Shins. If you were selling a bike, and it needed a new tire or 2 they would be the cheapest rim protectors you could get, apart from a used tire.

Look...

Re: Show your bike pics

Your Fastback is very clean! A good-looking ride. The BSA is an A65? That's the one you've been whittling brass parts out of the scrap pile for? The Sportster with the Springer front end looks...

Re: Chics and....bikes , no nudes please

I recall the BSA Fury, it would have given them a foothold in the mid-displacement market, but Meriden was on its way-down, I suppose the worker's strike is usually attributed to be one of the 'nails...

Re: '55 panhead french build

The juice extractor lid, re-purposed for an air cleaner, is very Art Deco in appearance. It reminds me of the BMW motorcycle and rider, Ernst Henne, I believe it was who just-before WW II put himself...

Re: 1966 Bsa 650 on a budget

That kickstarter pedal looks like something you would see in the movie Fargo, a part on a wood-chipper, dispensing red chunks onto a field of fresh snow.

Looks like you had a good amount of time...

Re: Show your bike pics

Same Bat-Time, same Bat-Place, and probably some flipped pics.

The Craig Vetter-designed Triumph Hurricane. The Triumph factory chopper, wildly-expensive when new.

And a Triumph engine, Norton...

Re: Show your bike pics

More from the same place/time. Again, they're vertical in the folder, so I dunno why they flip. Save & rotate, if you want.

Re: vintage pics o' the day

I fixed it for you. The Molotov-von Ribbentrop non-aggression pact was voided by Hitler when he began Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. I read a lot of 20th century history....

Re: I'm New Here???

The orange & black bike is very-clean, I like the better brakes. It's well-executed, was it your build? How is the CV carb working for you, a Mikuni?

Re: vintage pics o' the day

Isn't that a BMW design and tooling that made the Soviet bikes? Yes, you're right, it's a Dnepr, a Ural or something, but those were made from BMW tooling sent to Russia after WW II as part of...
