Re: Confused about brake drums

May have to ship it all in from the US dude. It's what I always do. There's even less swap meets here in the UK, I know of 1? a year. Some of the ralleys occassionally have them but very limited!...

Re: Confused about brake drums

W&W in Germany also offer some good parts. I've used their spacers and axle on my knuck. Fit my 78 year old frame absolutely perfectly. As Joe mentioned, the repop stuff may be the issue re - drum as...

Re: Confused about brake drums

I don't have any juice parts anymore as I've had mech drums on my last 2 bikes, I'd hazard and say the bearings may be the wrong width. Or it could be your backing plate/drum combo is mix match....

Re: Confused about brake drums

Shane,

If you go on the above website, you can look at all the parts, and it gives accurate sizing and measures. I like you on my pan went from disc (not for me) to juice drum. The Juice and mids...

Re: Disk Brake Conversion on Wishbone Frame

Really good of you Mike,

I run mine push as a have a Di jong pedal, but I had to upgrade to 1/2 inch stainless to make it work! lots of machine work and a lesson off the old man in threading a...

Re: Disk Brake Conversion on Wishbone Frame

Yeah the flatty was much bulkier than my knuck, stopped super well. I'm a strong advocate for mech drums!

Re: Disk Brake Conversion on Wishbone Frame

Agreed, Liam. My mech drum brakes have worked and work better than the juice I had on my pan. They also have a much nicer progressive feel. They work well, something is up with Fredo's...

Re: Disk Brake Conversion on Wishbone Frame

They all pull in a little, but damn that looks a lot to pull in.

Yeah fuck a cotter pin man, I have a bolt with a nylock nut on the back of mine and it's locktited. Anything that's maliable to...

Re: Disk Brake Conversion on Wishbone Frame

Hey bud,

If your bike is 'death rattling' and snapping linkages like that, there must be something that's not spaced properly, or the spacer you're using is wrong for the mech drum. I've never...

Re: 41 el

I had the bike out yesterday so could have a proper look for you. It's 41-4469! no 2, it's damn hard to see and my exhaust is right next to it, but it was off as was my genny to do...

Re: 41 el

My mistake though, there's no E or L its 41 - 2469 I think! scratch by the dash looked like an E, i'd had...

Re: 41 el

Eric,

I've been looking at my BN's tonight, the one isn't there, it's long gone, the other from what I can tell as it's almost not there its 41XL assuming it's E 2649.

That's best guess, the 2...

Re: 41 el

Hi Eric!

I'll certainly have a look when I get her back. From what I saw the BN's are just about gone. What I can tell you though is prior to the rebuild the engine had been in storage since...

Re: 41 el

Bike isn't with me and I don't have a picture of the VIN, it is as you've mentioned without the nubs, it's a smooth boss, long finned. It's 41EL2431

I've been told It's very rare by...

Re: 41 el

Thanks Jon,

I'll be sure to check valves, Russ (Shovithead) told me how he approached it and I've always done that, 3rd gear like you should shift and then turn it in click at a time on the high...

Re: 41 el

Sure is John,

Carb is dialled for 1000CC, and my EL has 1200 top end so going to need some tinkering to get it spot on. Plan is to ride 100+ miles and let the rings bed in. Will then start...

Re: 41 el

Bike has been fixed!

It was an intake leak, on the front head. I wasn't torquing the nuts enough, replaced a gasket, loosened and torqued everything and she's good to go! Carb needs a bit of a...
