thanks guys. So try some of that gear oil and just keep working it? any trick to getting the shift drum oiled/unstuck? and if i decide to replace, better off staying with a 5 speed?

i usually rock a Biltwell DOT, but i used to ride with my FLY motocross helmet minus the visor. i assume motocross helmets have a pretty solid rating on them.

just got my bike back. compensator nut was loose, there's a washer behind it that was flapping around. replaced the washer because it got a little chewed up, drained/cleaned primary. $60

i disagree that the Evo isnt a good looking powerplant. it's less entailed and doesnt look as mechanical, but it's still a good looking motor. maybe i'm biased, but the reliability is unparalleled...
