Very cool project! I just read through the thread a couple times to try to get it all!
Question: what's the deal with the gerotor pump? I've only even seen the factory vane pump (or the four vane...

Re: Fender ID thread?

Thanks again guys. Patrick, I mocked up my fender & you are right - it makes the wheel look like it's too far back. Dang. Looks like it will require either a different fender, a different swingarm or...

Re: Fender ID thread?

Thanks for the replies fellers! Good info. I poked around the tagtoppers website & saw a bunch of interesting stuff. Thanks for the lead on that. I'll be studying it more soon.
I also went to the K...

Re: Fender ID thread?

BTW, if anyone cares, here's a pic from a short while ago. It's progressed a little bit since this pic, but nothing big.

Fender ID thread?

I searched for some sorta thread like the Springer ID thread but found nothing. Also just searched for "fender(s)" and came up with a lot of discussion, but the only thread I found that had anything...

Re: Alternator in place of generator?

Hey, Richbob,
Point me to the thread you mention if you can. Like I said I did a bunch of searching, but didn't find what I wanted.
The attached pic is of the battery I was running. It's 5-1/2"...

Re: Alternator in place of generator?

One other detail I might add, I run a magneto for ignition, so the battery/charging system is just for lights.

Alternator in place of generator?

I've done some searching, but haven't found what I want to know.
Has anyone tried the alternator that V-Twin sells to replace generators on old HDs?
I've pretty much given up trying to make the 32E...

Re: BT flathead oil pump upgrade

I did the Sporty oil pump mod for my '39 WLR. There are no modifications done to the engine case, only mods to the oil pump to make it fit the flatty. It works great, although since the Sporty pump...

Re: The life and impact of Shovithead

I often looked a the list of bikes/projects in his signature & wondered about them. I wondered what a Doc Dych was. Never thought to just go ahead & ask. ckunsman89, would you be interested in...

Re: Bring JJ back to life!!

Preach it Brother! (Sorry, I got a little excited there)

In reality, there are plenty of other outlets for "non-JJ" topic stuff. A couple that I frequent will occasionally devolve into name...

Re: Not exactly a build thread...

Re: The life and impact of Shovithead

Well, what can I say.
This is a tragic event in several different ways. As folks have mentioned Russel was a true asset to this board. Losing him is our great loss. But as everyone also mentioned he...

Re: Not exactly a build thread...

Oh, and I've slowly taking the engine apart when I feel ambitious.
Some parts look remarkably good, some are pretty disappointing. There are lots of stripped or dodgy threads & several heli-coils...

Re: Not exactly a build thread...

Well, just as I promised, this bike is progressing at a glacial pace.
Finally have the frame about 90% done. It needs a little bit more weld cleanup & some paint cleaned out of a few hard to reach...

Re: Not exactly a build thread...

Those pics were taken last spring, when the bike was not quite finished. Of course, it's still not *quite* finished. I now have a front fender, but it's gotta get finished & painted.

This next pic...
