Re: 1960 swingarm panhead CHOPPER for People's Champ 7

Andy in my twenty years of machining I never broke one so I don’t know what is in it. And I didn’t know this method of finding the center of hole until a few years ago. When I learned it I was...

Re: 1960 swingarm panhead CHOPPER for People's Champ 7

I use an “edge finder” to find the center of a bore or outside edge of a circle. It’s a round rod with a matching diameter magnet on the end of it. You can get them in various dia. But mine is 10mm....

Re: Panhead compression... still chasing potential problems..

Just knock the center out of an old spark plug and braze a barbe fitting into it, connect a hose to that and then put aT on the end of it. On one side of the T put a gauge, on the other put a ball...

Re: Brazing, Bronze Welding School for Ignorant Rats

There used to be a video on the net of some guys in the country side of England who had a shop where they still build featherbed frames most notably to me for Sportster motors. I think they call it a...

Re: Advice for tank mount tab that repeatedly fails please...

Honestly the thicker the tab the better in this case. Think about how gravity will “ load” this joint, and the exponential increase in downward force when you hit bumps in the road that are trying to...

Re: Advice for tank mount tab that repeatedly fails please...

As Ducbsa say a lap weld is in order. Remake the tab a 1/2” longer and let it extend into the tunnel. Weld it on the end of the tab in the tunnel and where it exits the tunnel.this will have much...

Yes , on the bigger pics of the area so we can better see what you are doing, please. I have some advice but I’m going to wait for better pics. I want to see where that tab is welded on to the tank....

Re: Panhead compression... still chasing potential problems..

Re: What could be cause these grooves on a break disc

I’m thinking you need to rebuild the caliper. I know you said you put a socket in between and could pull it out with the pedal released, but have you tried to spin the wheel to see if it spins freely...

Re: Building a pan

Ratso is correct but the front needs to go down also. If you look at those two pics you can see that the first set sits much lower than the second set.

Re: What could be cause these grooves on a break disc

I’m hoping someone comes on here that KNOWS what’s going on here. I’ve actually seen this once before, probably 25 years ago. I bought a rode hard and put up wet not running non JJ compliant sport...

Re: What could be cause these grooves on a break disc

I wonder if the leading edge of the pad could be “dropping “ into the hole, and the then it digs the disc out when it comes out the other side creating the “valley” around the circumference of the...

Re: What could be cause these grooves on a break disc

I’m not sure what the answer is but I think it lies with the drilled holes. I find it odd that the dishes out part is in line with the circle of holes and the raised part is between the circle of...

Re: First Harley, first ride...

I always like riding on the interstates better than in town or two lane roads here in the U.S. all the traffic is going one direction, there is no cross traffic to worry about, it’s hard but not...
