Get fork oil! It is completely different than motor oil and will actually allow your fork to cycle properly. It is available at most motorcycle shops and is relatively affordable. I have been using...

Yes. That is once you have the 20/50 cleaned out. That oil is too thick and can cause your fork to hydraulic lock.

Just took a quick measurement...my bike stock is 21" from center of axle to the bottom of the lower tree, when the forks all fully topped out.

Drain the 20W50. Take fork apart and clean. Replace with fork oil in correct weight. Reset the tweak bar height, and ride.

Top outs occur usually for two reasons, to much compression or to little rebound. Did it get worse after you added more compression? What weight of oil are you using? I use 15 weight oil in the later...

Is it a top out early or bottom out noise? Meaning is the noise heard on the compression or the rebound stroke? Maybe check the height of the tweak bar, as you may not have enough load on the springs.

Can you post a pic or two? They will spin as the fork tubes are separated by bronze bushings from the lowers. Can you get the legs to slide into the lowers at all?

undo the seal holders at the top of the lower, clamp the lowers in a vice (I used a piece of steel as an axle to clamp to), and use a slide hammer with a threaded insert in the top of the fork tube....
