Re: Electrical issue? Running issue?

I thought "relay" in this case could only refer to a starter relay. Guh-huh!

Re: Electrical issue? Running issue?

All's I can say is that clicking is what a relay does when it's not getting enough juice to do its job. This probably isn't much help but at least it suggests that the trouble is upstream from the...

Re: Disk Brake Conversion on Wishbone Frame

That's a kindly offer. You guys knock me out.

Fredo, I momentarily forget where I saw it, but I've seen a nice-looking old (springer era) stock H-D brake that was converted to twin leading shoe....

Re: Disk Brake Conversion on Wishbone Frame

Maybe I am wrong and should be shot for it, but a quick reread doesn't show me that your mention of the (characteristicall, I guess?) horrible front brake went anywhere in terms of attracting advice....

Re: A quality Bates-type headlight

Yeah, I'm not complaining. Not exactly. At least I hope I'm not. Agree about buying American & trying to keep the money here.

Re: A quality Bates-type headlight

Holy cats. They sure did go up; whew! -- But those look like they were designed by somebody who'd also had half a dozen Bates-types break on him. The riveted bracket support for the bottom-mount is...

A quality Bates-type headlight

I can't help it, I still think there's no better-looking headlight for a stripped-down bike than the Bates. Over the past (nearly) fifty years I must have bought eight, nine Bates-style lights, most...

Re: A lifetime project

Please understand that I speak from the deepest depths of ignorance. But I can't decide whether your homemade wheel looks both beautiful and like a deathtrap, or just beautiful. The best I can do is...

Re: Norton Model 99

Beautiful. ... How much of the bike do you have to disassemble in order to remove & replace the filter?

Re: NZ Shovelhead build

Hm. Looks just fine to me, but we'll have to bring in JP and Dutch D -- a.k.a. the Symmetry Boys -- to adjudge whether your sissy bar meets their fanatical standards of chirality.

Re: Norton Model 99

Nice work in brass.

Would a skinny storebought pancake filter, like the K&N designed for a Tri TR6, work on your Nortoon?

Re: Cheap tires?

Cheng Shins were shit tires 40-50 years ago, and from what you fellas are saying, they're still shit. Makes me think that (a) there's still a sucker born every minute and (b) many guys who'd speak...

Re: Been busy... with the 68 and trimming!

It all looks great. You're a talented guy.

So did you have upholstery experience, or any kind of proficiency with a sewing machine, before you started in on the Ford interior?

A few nice H-Ds over on Vintage Flat Track this evening. The KHK is in a chrome-moly replica frame.

Re: 1966 Bsa 650 on a budget

Haw! That's a great-looking bike, man. It's unique without being a dick about it. It's RAKISH. It's INSOUCIANT. It is FUCK YOU, JUNIOR, but in a nice way.

Re: 1957 Thunderbird project, first post! (after intro)

That's gonna be nice. Makes me happy* that you're not going to stretch your bike's back end. Whether the forks are short or long, Triumphs just look much better to me when their business districts...
