Re: Tech Tip. S&S Accelerator Pump
Yep, you can adjust the volume all the way back to zero. But by increasing the size of the discharge orfice, you decrease the velocity and duration of the pump shot at low volume.
It's probably...

Re: Tech Tip. S&S Accelerator Pump
The only thing you'd have to watch out for here is that the accelerator pump circuit on an E has the ability to put out more fuel than a V-Twin needs from the factory. By opening up the squirter,...

Re: Will this be an issue?
I had a friend that rode a Triumph with an oil tank similar to your years back. I think his tank was notched out in the front of the tank to fit around the seat down tube and had a strap that bolted...

Re: Will this be an issue?
Yes, I think it'll be a pretty big problem. I just went and measured the chain/oil tank clearance on my rigid and it's close to 1" and still touches sometimes.
Can you notch the oil tank?

Re: Sucking and not responding..
Most of the S&S-Es that I mess with need very little pump shot to work, probably 1/2 or less turns out from not working at all. I usually turn them completely off and come out 1/2 turn at a time...

Re: Sucking and not responding..
A lot of times, a carb without a cover or a carb with a velocity stack will try to pull the fuel mixture out of the carb inlet instead of feeding the fuel into the engine.
You might try blocking...

Re: Reaming/Honing New 41mm Fork Bushings?
On my 51, I replaced the bushings myself and took the legs/sliders to my machinest. He had a machine (used to fit piston pin bushings) that worked for sizing the bushings.
It was a genuine pain...

Re: Riding along when motor seized!!! -shovelhead
I've just kind of skimmed over the thread, but if it were my engine I'd probably get the cylinder off piston and see if the bottom end will turn over. If it did, I'd check the rods per the Harley...

Re: Help save my Shovelhead from rusting
Is it rusting now?
Most of my cleaning brushes are stainless steel or brass, but I can't think of any aluminum parts I've ruined by using a wire brush on them.

Re: '55 FL - Numbers help
The timing covers on my 47 and my 51 look identical, except the 51 wasn't originally drilled for the oil line.

Re: wich horseshoe oil tank for 81 FXS?
This is one style of Paughco tank. It's made to put an electric start battery in it. This one has the built in oil filter, but they make them without it too.

Re: 1976 FX1200 Shovelhead now head scratcher
I think the idea is that that they aren't making anymore original shovelhead frames and there are plenty that have already been modified that can be modified again without cutting up an original....
