Re: A lifetime project

I like that a lot. Is that a modified Sportster/Superglide headlamp mount with the skirts?

Re: Yokohama HRCS 2018 photos

Cool photos, thanks. I think Japan is on my list of try-to-get-to places, although I'm not sure how easy a place it is to visit if you only speak/read English?

Re: Sparto Catalog?

I'm sure there was a thread about the various Sparto style lights with a photo selection, maybe a year or two ago? A search might bring it up, but you might need help from the evil eye of Google.

Re: need help with a shifter bushing

Although it's not what they're for, a decent old vice would probably still do the job. A modern Chinese one . . . probably not.

Re: Bringing a 68 shovel back to life.

Bummer. Smoking out of both pipes the same or just one? White smoke for oil, black for fuel?

Re: LED light issues

LED's are shit, but that's just my opinionated opinion :)

If they are all lighting up on either rear light and brake light switching then it sounds like you have a short somewhere, either in your...

Re: 64 panhead Numbers

Actually, Richbob, he mentions needing a front disc so that front end isn't original. Drums up to '72.

I think you'll find he missed a zero off that price!

Re: Photos from the Yokohama Hotrod Custom Show 2017

Finally got a spare couple of hours to go through them - great stuff, thanks. Good to see a selection of the 'other' bikes and hot rods too.

Re: Whats wrong with this picture...

Thank you. I guess the original was hosted by someone that doesn't like ad-blockers as I have had a similar problem elsewhere.

Sorry that you're standing down, although I can well believe it can be a thankless task at times.

Re: Ratchet top won't engage 3rd or 4th...?

Maybe a bit late now, but if the plugs are/were in the engine maybe you couldn't turn it quite enough to allow the 3rd gear dog to slip into place? If so, turning the back wheel with the clutch...

Re: Springer forks input

I agree with Pete on this - having the separate top yoke/tree means you can take the complete assembly off the bike by just removing that part. The top ones look like you'd be getting the spring...

Re: To Rake or not to rake, that be the question

I'm not a big fan of stretched hardtails, and like CookieMonster my first thought was 'hill climber', but if your glossy black photochop is an accurate one, that works for me. The large oil tank...

Re: JPTriumph

Can't see any photos at all? No little X's, photobucket crap, or anything, just text that sounds like I'm missing out on something . . .

Re: Opinion needed

You could sleeve the bottom couple of inches of the legs with thick-walled tube to fatten them up around the pivot holes.

Re: Looking for brake setup for SB& F girder

Lester, do you have an old one as a guide or are you starting with just a bare girder? With open and closed lengths of the shock, plus the geometry of the girder and weight of the bike it should be...

Re: 1958 Pan

Did the red and white one 'pan' out OK in the end? :)

Or did you go for a different one?

Re: making a brake anchor tab for juice drum

This is the offending part on mine, definitely an oval hole:

Re: 3.5 gallon or 5 gallon?

Yeah, sorry it sounds like I'm raining on your parade but that's how I see them. Wish they were worth more because then mine would be too! There's a small bike jumble with free outdoors pitches at...

Re: 3.5 gallon or 5 gallon?

They look like aftermarket 5 gallon tanks to me, going by the different widths at the back. Top left tab has been repaired a bit crudely. My guess is you'd get 20 plus for the badges and anything...
