Re: Triumph Question

But the T120 engine sure looks nice.

Re: ARD mag repops

I used the real one, but dumped the rotor/distributor setup for a regular mag cap. Of course it helped the decision with the original cap having been shattered.

Give Wayne a call over at BCS,...

Re: Triumph Pre Unit "Choppy" HobbyCopter

Always liked the look of those things, never saw one in reality.

What could possibly go wrong?

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

My last comment on this.

A mistake is when you order the wrong part number for your bike, or accidentally put a run into your paint job or maybe cut that piece of metal a little too short.

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

Yeah, that was a great analysis. As close to the truth of the matter we'll ever get. I'm still convinced that Benny Hardy built the first two (hero) bikes. The Billy bike is exactly the same as all...

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

In Fonda's book he mentions two replicas that were built for theater lobbies. He also says Hopper tried to sell them off as authentic.

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

Book is "Don't Tell Dad" published by Hyperion ISBN 0-7868-6111-8

Mostly narcissistic ramblings, praise for his worthless sister and stuff.

The Easy Rider story bit is pretty interesting,...

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

According to Fonda's book, Tex Hall rode it towards the ramp and jumped off at the last second. The forks collapsed when it hit the ramp but it still went into the field. They had pyrotechnics set...

Re: Kickstartn is pissing me off

We had problems kicking a 93" S&S KN engine to life while it still had the S&S ignition. Stuck a Dyna S in there and it's a LOT better.

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

Would you have been happy if you were the guy who paid 1.3 million at the auction in 2014 before finding out it was all a crock? I know Gordon Granger wasn't happy when Haggerty told him he lied...

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

Well, I'd say admitting the fraud would be a start.

Re: Dan Haggarty passed away

I'm interested why it doesn't matter that he sold three 'authenticated' replicas as the real thing. Fonda said there was pretty much nothing left of the crashed bike... although who can believe him,...

Re: BMW r75/5 *Blitzkrieg Flop*

I had the 50/5. It had the Bing AMAL MK 1 lookalikes on it. Every time it rained, water would get into the cylinder. Fun little bike but the 500 was totally gutless. Kicking technique took some...

Re: I'm stuck, can't tune my Amal...

It seems as if it was 'running great' the week before it would be odd if one day it didn't like the jets you had in there. Check for dirt/water in the gas or a voltage issue with the ignition.

Re: ARD Magneto decision

I don't have pictures on this computer but Joel Haunstein (I may have misspelled that) made his own belt drive for the magneto to get it out of the way.

You can see it in the video here, just turn...
