Re: CAL products Shovelhead engine cases

Cal Products made heavy duty engine and trans cases. They were around a fair while up til a few years back, they were bought by Rivera Primo. Unfortunately when Rivera Primo shut down, that stuff...

Re: 53 Panhead Frame Neck Advice Requested

To make it safe, throw that neck in the bin and get a new neck. Hardtail Choppers make nice ones, in any rake you want, although no casting numbers.

The neck lock is held in via a hardened roll...

Re: Vintage Fuel Drag Bikes

I figured that's probably the case, to get the oil up to temp faster.

And yeah, fuel starvation wouldn't have been a problem!

Re: Vintage Fuel Drag Bikes

Here's some pics from when it was built. Wheelie bars seem a little short?

Re: Vintage Fuel Drag Bikes

All the major components are there. However it requires a bit of updating (while still staying true to the era). It seems that a 15" drag slick is no longer available, the closest is the M&H 16"...

Re: Vintage Fuel Drag Bikes

New project I just picked up - inspired in part by this thread, I gotta say. 108" shovelhead in a Kosman frame.

Re: Identify Vintage Harley hardtail frame

There's a couple of other things that could identify the rear as a '36 frame. Location of grease nipple on brake crossover tube (different on '36 frames), and width of frame crossbraces (were...

Re: Identify Vintage Harley hardtail frame

1936 or 1937 Knuckle frame with shovelhead neck. Early frames were fully brazed, and 1936 -7 frames had die number on axle plates but no revision code. Would be a '2' on left axle clip for late 37...

Re: Cal Products C8 transmission case wanted

They're a fair bit beefier / thicker wall than stock. I contacted Steg about STD heads. Pretty sure that's all dead in the water. I ended up going for S&S P series heads and changed to shovel barrels.

Re: 103" single loop shovelhead aka "Yakasaki Eater"

Nice start. I hope the Chopper Dave frame you get is better than the one I have. Motor and trans mounts crooked, motor wouldn't fit, axle plates off relative to each other and to frame centreline,...

Re: Knucklehead Neck Replacement

It's a lot easier. Pulling the tubes out of a brazed casting is really hard without damaging the casting. It's easier to cut off the neck and machine out the sockets. (if your neck is still usable)....

Re: Knucklehead Neck Replacement

Yes, about 800 US. Worth it for a restoration, or early frame, otherwise starts to get expensive.

Re: Knucklehead Neck Replacement

To repair that '46 frame, the easiest way is to cut off the front half of the frame. Drill out the bottom plug welds on the old sidecar loops, and then slice around the perimeter weld with a cutting...
