Re: Garage sale score

I guess this has turned into a build thread........

Quick question for the ones in the know.
The 2 flywheels are different. The 71 has a 70-9745 that resembles a pre unit one.
The 74 has, what...

Re: Garage sale score

I got both the motors torn down.

Barrels are junk. Rusted pretty badly and broken fins on both. One cylinder head looks like it was redone and never ran but is pretty cruddy from sitting and has...

Picked up these two at garage sale.......$250.00

The yellow one is a 74 T140V
The little guy is a 71 T120R.

The T140 motor is apart and is definitely good to go for a rebuild.
I'm breaking...

Re: Got me a new toy!

Not really at all. I've only got one or two good "barks" so far. Those shocks are super stiff and the roads in New Orleans are shit! So the "look" trumps the potholes:) The thing with the sporty...

Re: Alternative to replating harware?

Scientifically? I have no clue. The hardware was super cruddy and rusty. I figure even if you plate something that is pitted it will still be pitted after plating. Just throwing it out there since...

Re: Alternative to replating harware?

I wire wheeled all my hardware. Stuck it in a container of kerosene for about a month. Been waiting to use them. It's been almost two years. I'll put up a pic tomorrow.

Edit: they've been sitting...

Re: Ball hone grit for Triumph?

Shaved 41mm Wide Glide front end

This is a front end came off of a Harley 1976 FX lowrider. It's not stock to the bike as the tubes that I replaced are part #45827-84. The tubes and seals are BRAND NEW, STRAIGHT and are 20 7/8"...

Re: Triumph lower frame bolt

Let me look. I got a bunch of extra hardware from a long forgotten project. I'd rather someone make good use of it. I see tomorrow.

Re: Sludge trap WHEN?

I found a tip of a 1/4" drill bit in my last build. Rode the bike a few times before I got it (my dad was the PO) and seemed to be fine. That being said my vote is for cracking the cases.
