Ratso, That link you reffered to is really amazing, i’d love to bite those parts.
Perhaps also needles to say there is a “how to build a girder handbook” somewhere available on the web...a must have...

Re: A lifetime project

Good one Ratso, i probably will cause i am allready loosing the origional colour scheme. so far the homage to the dutch moped...those vintage decalls cost an arm and a leg if i can find them anyway.

Re: A lifetime project

I had a great day at work , the cnc teach in machine could keep herself busy with 10 minute operation cycles so i had plenty of time for some customizing.

Time to re-locate the tunnel on the...

Re: A lifetime project

I changed my mind a few time about the colours but i finally decided to have it a bit sparkling.

Re: Hi-4 ignition won't fit in the cone??

I would slot the hole, because of a few extra wires in that harness it is a tight fit. A dyna 2000 has side exit on the module but even then it is a squeeze through that hole.

Re: Anyone familiar with Timken star hubs? Help.

I dont think it is shy because it is only one bearing , the concern was more about the load it can handle , take a look at the attachment below (www.skf.com) these are specifications of your timken...

Re: Anyone familiar with Timken star hubs? Help.

2 times 6005 on the left is also a possibility (with a stepped spacer) , 1 bearring on the right is a bitt shy, if you have acces to a lathe you better mod that part of the hub.
The outer spacer...

Re: A lifetime project

There is another topic still quite at the top about machining a axle, the discussion was about what material to use, 17-4 precipitation hardening is a strong grade of stainless , i am lucky to have...

Re: Anyone familiar with Timken star hubs? Help.

I checked it yesterday , it seems i put 2 bearrings on both side without the stepped spacer as I mentioned before but just a ‘normal’ one , the bore is 17 mm indeed. 6303 (17x47) and 6203 (17x40).

Re: 303 stainless suitable for axle

Its not only the hardness that counts but also the way it will be used , 303 is not the best solution for a shaft , the sulfur addition provides the machinability but makes it a bitt brittle as...

https://www.throttleaddiction.com/star-hub-timken-style-bearings-chrome/
