Got the new axle, alignment is great now without the stepped washers. Holding the old one next to the new one you can blatantly see that the old one was incorrect and just chopperly modified to...

The transmission was rebuilt with the 70 and later shaft (12.5 in) , in a 66 case.

Where might one find these splined spacers?


I dig all the input!!

I put one washer between the support shaft and the transmission, it NOW spins freely like it would without the support shaft... I think it's good now, but does someone have doubts on this method?

It's the primo rivera one.. it's not the shaft because the whole transmission was just rebuilt... What brand do YOU recommend? It was like $50

Hey JAWS,
So I got the trans support shaft, but like you said it does create tension so the shaft doesn't spin as free as without, what do you suggest to let it spin freely?

Gotcha it did center with the 16in but it didn't have a front brake at all at that time, now I'm adding the drum brake and switching to a 21 (yes star hub)..

Thanks for all the input, it could possibly be the wrong axle, previously it had a 16in star hub, now I upped it to a 21..

I did install in the correct order, and that stepped spacer is just...

Mounted up my front wheel yesterday after rebuilding the brake. It spins freely and the drum brake is working... BUT i cannot get it centered between the forks. To me it looks like its gotta move...

first thing need to be done is obtain the transmission main shaft support and bolt up the clutch hub? then go from there with the belt alignment with the front and rear pulley?

the first photo with the front pulley is with no spacers, you can see that it definitely needs to be moved.

-A 66' 4 spd ratchet top trans (was rebuilt with the later trans shaft, 12.5 in. basically a 1970-later style)

How much fork oil is the proper amount for a set of 1949 Panhead forks? The the tubes are 4+ over, and the lowers are stock with stock springs. OEM HD.
