nope, I still don't get it. you have a mainshaft supported in a bushing then a nut with a bearing that's not supported, where is the load transferred to?

thanks for the knowledge; so looking at it the mainshaft for that year is not as long as later years, and am not draggin' between the lights. So unless a support bearing turns up I won't be fitting...
