Maybe the crankpin nuts are hitting the cases, or the cam might be hitting the case? Is the oilpump installed?

Drain the engine oil, drain the oil tank. Wash the hell out of the oil bag, gas keroscene, diesel whatever and let it dry.. Put in fresh oil. pull the return line and put it in a bucket and start...
