yea my nearly bone stock(really heavy)39 locks up fine
and i have the twin leading shoe conversion up front which is pretty useless.

I had a BMW R100s (1982?)it was cable to a remote cylinder under the tank and had twin shoes up front.

I saw a while back W&W sell a shell and you can chose which lens/beam unit you fit (i deemed this expensive and bought a cheap one from Customchrome or somewhere im quite happy with it.)

I reduced my oil level and run a modern oil
(One that is ok for “gold” metals)
I have a moist area...

you can do with tyre in place
but you can't be sure if spoke will protrude (the one thats wound in)
but saying that my rim the clown that did it before me let all the spokes protrude up to
5mm...

and its good fun trying to get it spot on (but you will get a jump on pointer where it hits the weld on the rim edge)

you only have 2 options really
you can offset sprocket with spacers(tricky with your hub maybe)
or offset rim
its standard procedure
i set up a dial gauge on the rim but a stick or something...

yea exactly what joe said
when rim is centred in your frame tap your spokes (do it now to hear)and make sure theres a nice "ting" sound on all the spokes, job done.

shoot the vg guy an email
but your still need rim width maybe but centre hub is centre rim so its axle spacers but your dictated by chain so irregardless you have to move rim over.

theres a thread here somewhere noting about differences on those v-twin frames regarding axle widths and slight differences
just shift your rim over with spoke adjustment.

how about this just to check?
clean off manifold with solvent(its new so should be clean) and smear car body filler/silicone all over joins (poo it all over)
be a pain to clean off but will seal...

Well i found it all pretty straightforward but i was not replacing parts i was using all existing parts just did a valve job as i had my linkert set so lean i melted exhaust valve
i put a big smear...

is it different from a flathead head one ?
i had no problem with my ulh but i did use sealant was an exhaust type and had proper spanner
