Re: Ugly and Funny Bikes... the "Short Bus" of pic threads..

Yeah, I saw the documentary about the artist that built it. Gives it a little more validity. Still don't care for it tho. Not my cup of tea.

Re: q's about 33.4 front end assembly

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but that's opposite of what the manual shows. Does someone maybe have a different diagram other than the one I posted. That shows something different?

q's about 33.4 front end assembly

ok, so when I broke down the legs, there are some discrepancies between the diagram in the manual and my front end. Yeah, shocking. I know, right. So the book shows this......

Re: Troublesome 70 ironhead

Haha, shit yeah, I run a butterfly keihin on my 900. Cv's take a bit more work. Saw one on ig #chopperswapper for $20 shipped the other day, cheap and easy to work on.

Re: Japanese custom built from scratch

Looks like an improvised side stand, to look at it standing straight up. Doesn't look to be leaning on the kick stand.

Re: Jetting for keihin?

The intermediate will probably be a bit too lean, but the main may not be. I get occasional carb farts, cruising along in fourth and have been thinking of bumping up the main. I'd try the 180 first....

Re: Jetting for keihin?

I run an 88 intermediate and 170 main, pretty common from what I understand. For a stock motor anyway. Drag pipes with 3" baffles. '70 xlh

Re: Japanese custom built from scratch

From what I've read, the high or "Frisco" mids started in Frisco, to allow more clearance while cornering in very hilly areas. Makes a lot of sense, really.

Re: 1970 XLH Engine Questions

I've heard from a reliable source (ironhead cycle in Justin, tx) the Pingel replacement mounts are far superior to oe, might be worth looking into.

Re: 1970 XLH Engine Questions

That's the kicker shaft plug. You can access it through the primary, behind the clutch pack. An expansion plug with a bolt in it.

Re: Japanese custom built from scratch

Looks to me that he spilt the difference between the angles of the seat post and the forks, thereby balancing it out. But who knows, maybe a sissy will come into play. I still like it a lot, overall.
