Re: Sprung cobras

Jeffy,

Riverside seat co make a fantastic one, it's also very expensive!! They are usually bolted down at the back of the seat near the sissy, think pretty much how a normal cobra is mounted. I...

Re: Help with straight leg frame

That's usually to bolt your crossover exhaust section from the head through to the right side. It's also usually the place you mount your sprung brake switchfor the reat brake. Usually connected on...

Re: Bicycle brakes on choppers

All about preference I guess. The debate you mentioned is not real life is it? How many 'pro riders' ride 60 year old chops?

Something has always stuck with me that Russ 'Shoveithead' told me....

Re: 1966 Bsa 650 on a budget

I've heard on some of the groups I'm in it's purely aesthetic. You'd not be able to keep chain tension with that.. of course unless you run top and bottom tensioners.. You have to then ask yourself,...

Re: BDL Belt Alignment

You're welcome. That method I metioned isn't perfect but it'll get it running true. It's not rocket science, just takes a bit of time and patience. I learnt the hard way my belt ran off true,...

Re: BDL Belt Alignment

Great piece of kit that, Liam.

Having not had either on my panhead the adjuster has done me no ills so far! I also like it as I have it set so I can take tranny plus plate off and drop it in and...

Re: BDL Belt Alignment

Thanks JP! I've never dealt with anything newer than mid 1950's with old harleys so wasn't sure.. I assumed he wouldn't have one!

Good way to do it as well!

Re: BDL Belt Alignment

James!

If you look on the kicker side of the tranny, at the back of that usually near the plate you may or may not have a stud that's adjustable to stop lateral movement. My panhead didn't have...

Re: BDL Belt Alignment

Hey man.

This is caused by misalingment of your tranny. It works in reverse so if it's tracking right your tranny is out on the left side. I don't know if you have a lock in bolt, on my 1940 I...

Re: Tranny Main seal shaft leak?

John!

There's no play in it. I think the seal has just given up the ghost! I'm going to take it apart later in the week hopefully! teething problems!

Re: Tranny Main seal shaft leak?

Yeah!

It's never leaked a single drop of oil until last weekend. Where it just shit itself. I think it's just time for new seals. No problem really. Was just questioning myself and Pete stated...

Re: Tranny Main seal shaft leak?

I have a chain guard, it's going all over the left case, and everything underneath!

It's only been doing it a few days, just randomly shit itself!

Re: Tranny Main seal shaft leak?

Doens't feel like there's any play there at all. I think the seals may just have had enough!

It was rebuillt a few years ago, baker gears and baker ratchet lid.

Thanks, Pete.

Re: Tranny Main seal shaft leak?

Thanks Pete!

I'm capable of stripping it right back. I've done it before on my panhead. The supernut is something I don't have. I've got it apart and oil is coming down the channels between then...

Re: Removing knuckelhead rocker box

Haha,

I loved my flatty dude, but I couldn't not have a knuck when the opportunity came knocking. Always wanted one.

This bolt looks like it's probably old hardware, it went right in the...

Re: Removing knuckelhead rocker box

It was exactly that Joe, sorted now!

I had to tap them up with a wooden mallet slightly off the head, and then knock them forwards, they came freely after that!

Removing knuckelhead rocker box

Hey all.

has to happen to me, the one bolt holding rocker box to head sheered, was tightening by hand, so I think more tired bolt than me eating my spinach!

Question is, I've undone bolts,...

Re: 1951 Panhead build thread
