You don't want to use a reed valve in a bottom breathing engine. There are some out there in which it has worked, but no promises.

The reed valve and the rotary breather give you similar results...

It's paint. I had vinyl masks made. Laid them out then used my airbrush to spray HOK white pin striping paint. Pulled the masks, Let it dry, then buried it in the clear.
