Oil lines, rigid to swingarm differences

Does anyone have first hand experience of differences between rigid and swingarm oil lines?

I'm right about to finish up my chopper project, Panhead in straightleg frame and Paughco shot guns.

Re: BDL Primary Belt Question

Bumping thread for future reference.

I ended up countersinking the front screws, so transmission can be pulled a bit further. Constraint when doing this was really the frame tube. Transmission now...

Re: Help with straight leg frame

Ah, should've figured that out.

Anyone know the positioning of this hole in terms of a frame drawing?
CC-distance to brake crossover?

I suspect mine is off in terms of location. Atleast, this...

Re: Help with straight leg frame

Bumping my old thread.

Anyone know what this ear is for? It does not look to be correct on my frame.
Does not show up on my repro straight leg drawing.

Re: BDL Primary Belt Question

This is really good information. Thank you Dutch!

It seems the primary problem of my setup is that I am running a 78-80 bearing support transmission together with an order, 1958 Panhead, engine.

Re: BDL Primary Belt Question

I am very surprised by this. My frame is OEM straight leg, and my base plate is an adjustable type.

Is your setup exactly like mine, so it was sold with the 138 tooth belt?
Been googling for...

Re: BDL Primary Belt Question

Ye, I think I wrote this in my message above

Motor pulley-45
Trans/clutch pulley-68
Belt-138 (1.5, 8 mm)

This is causing me all kinds of headache. I have never seen a primary drive...

Re: BDL Primary Belt Question

144 teeth will be too long, or just gracing the edge of feasibility. I only have 18 mm movement of transmission.

I believe 141 would be ideal. Or if I can find another front pulley that fits...

Re: BDL Primary Belt Question

Things kind of escalated after this.

I shoved transmission as far forward as possible. Tried to assemble the motor pulley and clutch pulley with the belt. Noticed pretty quickly it was a tough...

Re: BDL Primary Belt Question

Ah, ok, I see. I would assume this brass washer somehow ended up wrong in my filing system these years ago. May have used it to get the clutch off the shaft.

Nickel plating DIY mishaps and learning

I'm approaching the very end of my Panhead build. Initially, I had intended to have items chromed, but due to time constraint and very high price I started looking for alternatives. This is where I...

Re: Fitting floorboards to a chopper panhead

Okay. I'll probably just replace the arm then.

If you can check with a ruler between the outer primary and sidestand / mounting (whichever is closest) I would be very greatful. If not too much...

Re: Fitting floorboards to a chopper panhead

Outer and inner primary is completely sealed when assembled (i.e. there is no spacing between them). The spacer only displaces the covers from the engine and transmission, so I think if there is more...

Re: Springer steering stem / top clamp woes

Okay, that makes sense. Ye I figured I would just use the washer/cover and nut you see pictured for the timken preload. Then I would use this nut to lock it.

Re: Springer steering stem / top clamp woes

shovit is spot on, the threads in the legs are 1/2 UNC. They were just really rusty so I had to use a little more torque than expected to get them in. It is very likely that JAWS is right aswell....

Re: Help assemblying gear case. Cam gear end play etc.

I found end play in manual. 0.003-0.007 for both idler and timer gear. Is this critical? seems awfully small aswell.
