It started when I was 14 and I helped my father restore an old car, he was never mechanically inclined. His frustrations in the build taught me the value of the right tools and equipment for the job.On my 14th birthday my mother, who knew I liked minibikes…. there were a lot of them around when I was a kid, bought me a frame, and told me I had to get a job to buy the rest of the parts myself. I did, cutting lawns, hospital maintenance and then the car wash which was so conveniently next door.Which by the way I was always late for most of the time.I built that mini bike and rebuilt it a few times with 3 different motors. I later got into dirt bikes from a Suzuki Ts 185 to a Maico 400 and many more in between.I also had a few salvage bikes all Yamaha’s bought fixed and rode, in the city yeah too many close calls. So I found an interest but not a career in the automotive industry. It was many years I had spent in the automotive industry from 1978 till 1991, but I never really liked it.I found after doing several career assessments that I needed a creative outlet, one of my titles was a body shop manager where we used to rebuild salvage vehicles, fix insurance claims and just build what we wanted to, having a huge assortment of parts tools and all the wrecking yards willing to barter parts for services…..ahhh the old days. Needless to say we had fun made some awesome cars and trucks and made lotsa $.But still ……not liking it too much.I found a salvaged Yamaha XS 650 that the owners had bought it and dragged it around with me for 18 years ….. think about that…then one day, while on the net I saw Scott’s bike, man that was IT! I thought to myself hell I used to fix and ride my stuff why not build it, its a creative outlet….. yeah….. hell yeah. and here we are. I have a year of making mistakes and years ahead of not trying to repeat them !
