- Biography
- My name is Bob Gross. I am 62 years old, and have been interested in British bikes since the age of 15. I hung out and helped out at Dan`s Cycle Shop (Dan Costa , BSA and Triumph dealer ,Staten Island NY) until I moved to Florida, and he went out of business around 1977 or 78. I was there in the glory years of BSA racing in the 60`s, and also witnessed the sad demise of BSA in 1972. I did a bit of club racing in the 70`s, and had lots of fun running a BSA 750 twin in Heavyweight modifed, a production 650 BSA and a TD2B Yamaha in GP2 class with AAMRR, ERA, and the first years of AMA CCS. I was very fortunate to run many of the old northeast roadrace circuits including Loudon NH (and Noduol, Loudon backwards), Bridgehampton NY, Thompson CT. , Pocono, and then after moving south, Charlotte, Daytona, Palm Beach International Raceway (moroso), Gainesville,Dade City, etc. I am a charter life member of the AMA. I was in the heavy hauling trucking business for 30 plus years, and operated a motorcycle shop , Olde Iron cycle Works,in Edgewater Fl. for the last 2 years. I have now shut down the business, and continue my work on a hobby basis from my home , where I have a 2000 sq. ft. shop and storage area. I can be found working here most days during the week, and my son Jimmy stops in to help me out a few days a week. We have an inventory of about 50 BSA`s , Triumphs, and BMW`s here in various stages of completion or repair.
I look forward to becoming a part of the Jockey Journal community.
