Thanks Louie! Reminds me of walking the parking lots of the bike meets in the late '60s early '70's. Back then there was a lot of innovation because there wasn't any catalog parts. Now it looks like a lot of innovation beyond the catalog crap. Once again it's a great time to be a lover of custom bikes.

thanks for all the pics Louie...every year something seems to conflict with me making it down there and this year was no exception..relatives in town from back east so I was going no where...I think my favorite(if thats possible) was the knuck with what looked like an oil cooler copper coil plumbed to the back wheel which looked like it actually used the air generated from the wheel rotating to cool the coils with the cylinders that looked like some type of aircraft??..would love to know the story behind all that...I guess now its back to putting it on the calender for next year and planning carefully so I don't miss it again...;-)

Glad I did not miss this years show. I went to the 1st and 2nd one, missed last years. I tell ya, it was a BLAST! Great seeing old friends of mine I have not seen in couple years...Scott Craig, Rene Astengo many others that I saw for brief moments oh, and that one HOSER that was there all the way from B.C. Great seeing ya Rick. All the bikes from the special show builders to those that were out in the field to those that were parked driven to the show, the venders, the bands that played. Grant Peterson and Mike Davis, thank you both for making special memorable times like this for us all to remember and enjoyed...Lairdog, thanks for posting the pics you are doing, lets me see the bikes I did not see, what a blast it was, eh? oops. i didn't go but i want to say thanks for throwing such an event. it inspires a lot of garage builders from novices to old chopper wizards and everything in between to get creative, motivated and wrench on their own shit. i admit, i'm not well versed in the bike scene but i do know that the bikes i see at your event past and present inspires me to learn and work on mine. now a days, a lot of people talk about how the japanese are doing cool shit with their bikes (which is true) but Born Free is proof positive that the US has been and always will be doing cool shit with their bikes as well. alright enough ass kissing. i got to wipe this brown shit off my nose

Forgive my ignorance but how do you achieve such a result on those rear axle plate castings ?
It doesn't look like chrome to me... Is it nickel plating?
Do you do that before powder coat, or after? (I guess before and protect during powdercoating, but just to make sure)

My other question about this rear juice brake is where is it lock ? (the drum) It's not in the stock upward position, kinda twisted, and I don't see the bolt supposed to hold it...

I had that problem in the past and the only solution, if using photobucket, is to use their pay service. I dont' know much about it, but years ago Doug (Dragon) is the one that mentioned this to me.

i do believe those are polished cast stainless axle plates made by john at hardtail choppers. it looks like they moved the brake stay to the stock location. if you look real close you can see a square block in that location.

Looks like they could be Baxter Jackrabbits. I have Zombie Performance Nomads on mine. They are upsweeps too but 3 piece and not quite as up there. They aren't uncomfortable like you would think. I even have a permanently broken wrist bone working against me.
