Default Small city cycles born free 4 pre unit

HERE ARE SOME PICS OF THE PROGRESS ON MY BORN FREE PRE UNIT AND I WILL TRY TO DOCUMENT THE WORK EACH DAY AS THE TIME TICKS AWAY FOR ME TO GET THIS BIKE DONE AND DOWN TO THE SHOW. I REALIZE NOT EVERYONE CAN MAKE THE TREK TO THE SHOW SO MAYBE THIS WILL HELP WITH THE BORN FREE BLUES. HERE IS THE BIKE RIGHT BEFORE I TOOK IT DOWN FOR PAINT, CHROME AND POLISH......

THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS NOW. STILL ALOT TO BE DONE. STILL HAVE SOME PARTS OUT AT PLATING DUE TO SOME BAD CHROME. ITS BEEN ALOT OF WAITING ON THE ROUNDS OF CHROME PLATING AND POLISHING. EVERYPART OF THIS BIKE HAS SOME COMPONENT THAT HAS BEEN PLATED SO UNTIL I GOT THE CHROME BACK, IT WAS JUST A BUNCH OF STUFF HALF ASSEMBLED BEFORE I WOULD HAVE TO STOP AND WAIT FOR MORE PARTS TO ARRIVE SO I COULD MOVE FORWARD. HERE IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AS OF TODAY.

HERE IS THE OIL TANK. IT LOOKS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO A STOCK TRIUMPH RIGID FRAME OIL TANK, BUT ITS ACTUALLY HAND MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM. IT EXTENDS ACROSS TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BIKE AND ALSO CARRYS ALL THE ELECTRICAL/BATTERY AND HAS A MATCHING LEFT SIDE COVER THAT ISN'T SHOWN.

THE PRIMARY COVER IS SOMETHING I AM ESPECIALLY PROUD OF. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON CASTING SOME NEW PRODUCTS FOR THE UNIT AND PRE UNIT TRIUMPHS AND THE PRIMARY COVER WAS BY FAR THE MOST DIFFICULT AND TIME CONSUMING. I WILL BE SELLING THESE WHEN I GET BACK FROM BORN FREE AND CAN TWEAK JUST A LITTLE MORE ON IT. I WANT IT TO BE PERFECT BEFORE IT GOES OUT ON THE MARKET. TOTALLY STOCK EXCEPT FOR THE FINS. THEY ARE EVEN MACHINED FOR YOUR STOCK TRIUMPH INSPECTION CAP. LATER ON IN THE YEAR THERE WILL BE A MATCHING TIMING COVER AVAILABLE AND ALSO SOME OTHER PARTS AND PIECES.

AND ON ITS WAY BACK FROM THE POLISHER. I WISH I COULD HAVE JUST LEFT IT LIKE THIS, BUT SINCE ALL MY OTHER COVERS WERE ALREADY CHROMED, THIS TOO IS OUT GETTING DUNKED.

SHINY REBUILT MAG!

THATS IT UNTIL TOMORROW WHEN HOPEFULLY I'LL GET THE TOP END BUTTONED UP AND ALOT OF THE LITTLE BITS AND PIECES ON.

Are you running chromed vise-grip axle spacers on the final build?

If you did that you should TOTALLY win

Wow, I have a feeling someone's going back to Yokohama. Crazy nice work.

Small City Casting Co. has a nice ring to it.

Wow, its going to be a stunner!

Is that frame down at the back, if so by how much? I'm digging the stance! My '50 is looking more and more like a bitsa as I look closely, the frame is a later pre-unit like this, with the oval air cleaner opening, and going low is the next step!

Thanks, its actually a really icy blue. My buddy Rob at El Robbo studios in Battleground WA did it for me. I told him I wanted an ice blue, but that I didn't want it to blue, to silver, or to white. I'm a total pain in the ass when it comes to paint colors. He nailed it though. All done in various shades of pearl over silver.

Yes, the frame has been stretched. Cant tell you the exact measurements though. Just wanted the back bone to be straight. Lowered it quite a bit too. Between the stretch and the short springer, the bike is pretty low.

THANKS FOR ALL THE KIND WORDS GUYS. GOT SOME MORE DONE ON THE BIKE TODAY. TRYING TO GET AS MUCH DONE AS I CAN, BUT STILL WAITING ON THE REAR LEGS TO GET BACK FROM CHROME SO I CAN PUT THE FRONT END TOGETHER. GOT THE TOP END PRETTY MUCH BUTTONED. AND, EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE MUCH, I GOT THE WHOLE BIKE WIRED TONIGHT WHICH IS ONE OF MY LEAST FAVORITE PARTS OF A BUILD. I ALWAYS STRESS ON WHERE TO RUN THE WIRING FOR SOME REASON. I DON'T LIKE TO RUN ALL THE WIRING IN THE FRAME, BUT I ALSO DON'T WANT TO JUST HAVE IT HANGING OUT THERE. PLUS, LIKE A DIPSHIT, I DECIDED WHITE HEAT SHRINK/CLOTH WIRE WOULD FIT WITH THE LOOK OF THIS BIKE BEST SO I HAD TO WASH MY HANDS ABOUT 50 TIMES THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT.

HERE IS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE OIL TANK THAT HIDES THE BATTERY ETC.

ONE OF THE THREE COVER ATTACHING BOLTS.

SINCE I AM RUNNING THE WEBCO DUAL CARB SETUP, I FIGURED I WOULD USE THE ORIGINAL CARB RUBBER HOLE FOR THE LIGHT SWITCH AND MY MAGNETO KILL. THAT WAY ITS HIDDEN OUT OF SIGHT ALITTLE BETTER WHEN VIEWING FROM THE SIDES.
